Sleepy Town Has UFO Reputation
Friday February 17, 2006
In the village of West Kilbride in Ayrshire, Scotland, life is simple, for the most part. West Kilbride was at one time known for its crafts, that is arts and crafts, but now is known for another type of craft, UFOs. I spoke to the author of an interesting article about the town's reputation as a UFO hotspot. The Ministry of Defence or MOD as it is generally known, recognizes this fact also. In its statistics for the year of 2004, they listed the little place as Britain's most prolific reporter of UFOs with 12 official sightings.
Alien invasion of UFO hotspot West Kilbride gives us some great insight into the small community's reputation. Anyone who lives there will tell you that this distinction is well founded, although some will tell you that the whole thing is overstated. Just like many small towns, there is a self-proclaimed spokesman, and Dougie McKinnie holds that unofficial title for West Kilbride. McKinnie saw a UFO when he was 17, and there are several other locals who are not afraid to tell you all about it. See this great article; you will be glad you did.
