Astronaut Charged with Attempted Murder

Wednesday February 7, 2007
How about this? All of the major news services are talking about Astronaut Lisa Nowak. It seems that although she is married and has three children, she has fallen in love with another astronaut, and attempted to kidnap and murder her rival for the male astronauts attentions. She is a Navy Captain, and was mission specialist aboard the Discovery last July. It seems that she does a great job while she is on the clock, but she has made some poor decisions about her personal life the last few months.

She drove from Texas to Florida wearing a diaper to minimize restroom stops so she could get at Air Force Captain Colleen Shipman, and sprayed her with pepper spray. She was charged with attempted kidnapping to start with, posted her bond, but then was charged with attempted murder. She posted another bond, but is still wearing a global positioning satellite device. It seems that Nowak and Shipman were both "in a relationship" with Navy Cmdr. Bill Oeflein, at least according to the police report. See all the juicy details at Astronaut Granted Bond on Attempted Murder Charge.
