Newspaper Fires Stephenville Writer

Tuesday February 12, 2008
As you may know, the biggest news on the Texas sightings was made public by a courageous writer for the Empire Tribune newspaper, the only paper in the small community of Stephenville. Angelia Joiner's articles were picked up by the major news outlets, and brought her newspaper record-breaking figures for the month of January. Angela did not just hit and run, she stayed with the story, doggedly sought out witnesses, and reported her eagerly awaited follow-ups on a regular basis.

As she gained more and more information from the eyewitness, she discovered something: some of the witnesses were being intimidated and threatened to keep their information to themselves. This was an extremely important find, and she told it like it was. Her information has filled the Net with blogs and comments on this "men-in-black" scenario.

The newspapers kept rolling off the presses, but something was wrong. She had gone too far. I was talking to her about a week ago about another matter, and she dropped a bombshell on me. She was leaving the paper on February 14. I didn't even have to ask why. When her reports on witness harassment and intimidation went public, there were some people in high places that were very upset. To make a long story short, she didn't even make it to the 14th. She was gone on in a matter of days, her computer confiscated. She was told her stories were an embarrassment to the paper.

It seems strange that they didn't say a thing about "being embarrassed" when the advertisements were rolling in, and the presses were running overtime. I want to refer you to an article that will give you the full story on her dismissal. The information was gathered and presented by my good friend Michael, who is a serious, level-headed student of Ufology.

A lot of folks are writing the paper, and professing their dismay with the actions of the Empire Tribune. All of the email contact information is listed in Michael's article. Here is a chance to make your voice heard.

I will also report on an upcoming blog exactly what Angelia and I were talking about. This involves even more intimidation, and her and I are discussing how to break a story that I was privy to that involved direct government harassment. Check back Wednesday for this report. Voice your comments on these events, and let me know what you think about what has happened to Angelia. Watch this Friday's blog.

What a shame! The newspapaer fired her because the goverment forced them into doing it because she uncovered something they didn’t like, and thats’ jsut plain wrong!

Interesting turn of events. I doubt she will be reinstated. But she should be defended or they will completely take away our freedom of speech. And don’t think they won’t!

For years the goverment has slowly been taking over our lives .They now tell us what to do and really don’t tell us why and they lie to us all the time too. It’s time someone stands up and tells them they are wrong.

(6) Jon Hagner says:

Fret not UFO researchers. I have studied the UFO phenomena for 45 years and I do not need any government agency to prove the existence of alien craft. Nor do I have to even include Roswell since that case is too polluted. I have developed a technique that involves intense scrutiny of the night sky over a long period of time in combination with powerful lasers. I have elicited responses from craft in the night sky. This does not include landing of craft, trace evidence,or contact with alien beings. I have assembled an array of various scientific equipment and am pondering my next move toward establishing realistic goals.

The day wiil come when omeone or Jon relases all the evidence on ufo’s and aliens. Just hope the goverment or some other people will not get scared and try to stop them for doing so.

This is outrageous behavior from a newspaper. They should be backing up their reporter instead of caving in to external pressure - that’s what they’re supposed to be about.

You didn’t say whether she will continue to cover the story. I’m sure she could submit articles directly to some news agency, couldn’t she? There’s so much interest in this case, I’m sure there would be a market for it.

This is shameful behavior on the part of the Tribune, for this uncalled for dismissal of this reporter.
The people will be judging them by their actions.
Our goverments have poked their noses into the lives of the citizens too damn far!
The tribume should be boycotted for such uncalled for actions.

This story is quite fascinating. It is really the best sounding story about the perplexing UFO phenominai mania to come up in current years. Like many others, I want to believe the likelyhood that something strange is going on above us. There are so many persistent reports from what seem to be reasonable sources. Often, I am discouraged with reading and hearing what turn out to be depressingly mediocre tales, dramatically embellished to heights that quickly render the stories quite unbelievable. However, this story smacks of genuine authenticity. Angelia’s reports certainly hit someone right where it matters. In this day and age, good reporting doesn’t result in the immediate dismissal of a good reporter unless the messages being filed are proven to be untrue. Angelia’s stories augmented the interest of the locals to the extent that the newspaper circulation increased substantially. This, obviously because the readers turned to their local newspaper to get further dependable details about a situation that they witnessed and wondered about. The managing principals of the publication are in the business to bopefully achieve the very results they received from running Angelia’s stories.
I agree with the sentiments of Ms. Martha Jette. If Ms. Jette can ever let Angelia know how she feels about the unjust treatment she has suffered through her severance from the Empire Tribune, I hope that she can convey my sentiments to her also. This is a very unfair situation.

(13) Martha Jette says:

It sickens me that the powers that be are walking around with blinkers on when it comes to anything unusual, such as UFOs.

Back in 1996, I was ousted from my job as a community newspaper editor after I attempted to publish a story related to a paranormal event.

If there is any way I can contact Angelia, I would sure appreciate it.

OMG! The firing of this journalist is very sad - but oh so typical! Newspapers used to be fearless and reported the news as it happened. But with Govt. pressure that stopped being the case a long time ago. “Freedom of The Press” ” Govt. Of - For and By The People”———– Yeah - Right! I wrote to my Senators, Congressman and to the Stephenville paper concerning this travesty of justice. I’m sure it won’t do any good - but I had to try. No Govt. should be able to twist the truth to the extent that all Govts. seem to do. Newspaper editors serve their Masters Too Well. The Notion that these lies are for National Security is crap. Its about Greed and who can get and use the Technology to get one up on all the other competing Nations. Its sickening and I hate that I am powerless in the face of this Govt. control run Amuck!

(15) SamB says:

I have no doubt that pressure to stop the reporting was applied to the newspaper by some organization or entity. The same thing happened immediately after Roswell, as has been well documented. Many witnesses of UFO events have reported the same kind of pressure, sometimes from military personnel and sometimes from shadowy “MIB” characters. I would strongly suspect our government (or someone’s) of involvement in these instances.

I once personally attempted to get information on an alleged train/UFO collision by writing to the railroad. It was stated that a locomotive and maybe some train cars had been damaged in the collision. An incident report had been completed by the railroad and photographs allegedly were taken, and I wanted to get copies of those and a copy any investigation(s) which may have been made. The response from the railroad was basically that no information regarding the subject could be released. Period.

Now, investigations of train wrecks, airline crashes, boat sinkings, etc. are routinely completed by the National Transportation Safety Board, and copies are freely available. But for some reason, a tight lid apparently had been placed on this alleged train/UFO collision. Lots of room there for speculation as to why information that normally would be public domain would be so sensitive and secret.

I’m not paranoid, and I don’t wear Reynold’s Wrap headgear, but one can’t miss noticing the many instances in which sources of good, solid UFO information quickly became very reluctant to talk to anyone. It really makes you feel that SOME outfit is “making them an offer they can’t refuse”.

I cannot believe only 15 or so comment have been posted, this is the most outragious thing I have ever seen the whole world should be in texas demanding a reason why they are covering this ufo up and as the reporter she should get a lawer and she should get millions over this thing they have done to her, if the goverment gets away with this, (just think about it) their is no hope for us if we do not stop this here and now it will be to late for us.. (I DO NOT KNOW HOW BUT I DO KNOW WE MUST STOP THIS HERE AND NOW. IT MUST BE STOPPED NOW) Bill Davidson

(18) Terry Floyd Johnson says:

Angelina Jolie is a victim and a hero at the same time.

Her paper and bosses are the evil empire, and the ones harassing UFO evidencers, are the hidden evil virus that is ruining are belief in newspaper and media.

This corporate firing is not uncommon; usually because of political influence within or outside the corporation.

Newspaper and network TV are dying, not because of ad money losses, but because of their lying natures. Trust a newspaper; get a knife in truth.

When politics rule information; citizens lose. Don’t just forget this attack on an American Citizen, but use it to fry the newspaper, and its owners. They deserve to be put out of business.

UFOs are real; and they do pose a threat. How much, is your belief in their friendliness or not.

Cheers for you Angelina- you are a reporters reporter.

Start your own news blog, and be a true voice in the scamming environment of media lies and misinformation.

Yeah, they travelled 4.5 light years to let a bunch of rednecks ogle them AND get the local newspaper reporter fired.

Good grief, get a life.

I would love more than anyone to believe- too bad there’s never been any evidence and never will (they would die before getting here).
