Compelling Account of UFO Crash

By , About.com GuideMarch 3, 2008

Follow me on:

Here is a very interesting story on the Net I saw recently, and wanted to share with all of our readers. It deals with a rarely discussed, yet intriguing UFO crash event. The article was carried by KLTV television station, on which I did an appearance a few years back. The reporter and crew were very gracious to me, and certainly open minded about the UFO subject.

The 1941-Cape Girardeau, Missouri Crash story is related by one Charlotte Mann, whose grandfather was a Reverend. He was called out on a "plane" crash, and after arriving at the scene, he discovered he was misled about what had really crashed. It was actually a UFO, and he was even asked to pray over dead alien bodies.

This case was first brought to investigators by Leo Stringfield in his book "UFO Crash / Retrievals: The Inner Sanctum," and is a mystery that I have worked on for years to obtain more information about, but it has been a tough nut to crack. Read the accounts linked above, and tell me what you think about it.

yes, the photograph would be needed here. One person telling someone else something can be interesting, but far from good enough to stand alone as proof. I have heard fantastic stories by older adults that are complete fiction. Just because we hear a ghost story from someone over 65 doesn’t make it true, even if it’s told from a grandfather to a grandchild. The grandmothers testimony is also 2nd hand. And the grandchilds testimony is 3rd hand. You would think that if such an incredible thing happened there would be more out there, like there was in Roswell. I don’t think they’d just bury the aliens, say a prayer for them and then forget about it. The story has been around for a while, but it doesn’t generate enough interest in the media. That should tell you something.

what it tells me is the info has gone missing and finding it is very hard, that doesn’t make it false though or fiction.

No, it’s nearly impossible to totally prove anything like this as false. But the story goes into that vast category of ‘potentially possible, but not enough proof that it happened’. I think >99% of the stories go into that category. The guy who witnessed the incident might have the reverend title, but none of us can testify to his true character or if he just made up the story to entertain. Maybe the family members took it too seriously. Or there is the potential that it was all a big joke and no one informed the reverend. If you had the photo you could at least do some analysis. And again, it’s hard to believe that such an incident could have happend without many others knowing about it, including law enforcement and government/military officials.

might be interesting for researches to check the local newspapers in that region around the time of the alleged crash. If any info is found it might tell you about others who could have witnessed the incident. Might want to see what type of data the police have. They could have info on things that occured.

Not for nothing but why would the authorities be worried about giving the aliens their last rights one minute and then pose them for pictures the next. When did the respect for the beings go out the window.

Interesting if true, but as has been pointed out, proving or disproving an account such as this one is almost impossible.

Twice-told tales seem to have a way of taking on a life of their own. This one seems to follow the classic scenario where one person happens upon a crash scene, maybe sees a few dead aliens, tells a few people about it, and subsequently receives sinister warnings from shadowy military or government figures. Purported photos never seem to surface, and material evidence seems to have been spirited away by forces unknown.

I would be interested to know if there are other accounts of this incident in the archives of local newspapers or other publications.

1941 Cape Girardeau-Missouri crash…I remember something about this happening in the late 1950’s..it hit the light of day and then it was gone leaveing only the after math for the rest of us to live with.It could vary well be the truth.

This is almost certainly a hoax. Had a crash really occurred there would have been many more witnesses if only second or third hand. There have been many, many reports like this, yet only Roswell seems to have more than one witness.

true and because its only one person who saw it it is impossible to prove so it more likely be a hoax.

I concur, gentlemen. I lean toward the possibility/probability that this is a fabricated tale.

But in the absence of any solid proof either way, our opinions all remain speculative.
