"Looney Toons" Alien Proposal

Wednesday May 7, 2008
You have probably already heard about this: Man Pushes Creation of Panel: Prepare City for Space Aliens. Jeff Peckman had made a strange request of the Denver city council. He wants civil servants and emergency personnel ready... ready for an alien invastion. Poor Jeff has really taken the hits around the Net. He has been described as a "nut," "lunatic," and a "crazy," and even a "fag," because he is 54 years old, single, and lives with his parents. Peckman, it seems, is noted for his off-beat antics when it comes to legislation. He has a history of offering up some off-beat proposals, like his "stress reduction" ordinance, and a "safety through peace" offering.

Now, he has really hit his stride with his desire to pass a law that requires city employees to be educated in preparation for a possible alien invasion.

"It is important because if you're driving down the highway and you saw a crash of a small spaceship and a car or a bus full of kids, you really wouldn't know what to do," Peckman said. "Do you wait for the hazardous materials experts to show up because of potential contaminants from another solar system? What do you do? People really don't know."

By law, the city must hold a "review and comment" meeting on the alien proposal. Really, when you think about it, maybe it is not really that far fetched. There are government documents that validate similar training programs for emergency personnel, and many cities of our country have similar guidelines in their fire department and police charters.

Wouldn't it be something if one day the impossible really happened? Do you think that this type of instruction should be a part of emergency personnel training?

There is a relevant program made by the History Channel. The title is, “UFO Files: When UFOs Arrive.” I think it is unfortunate that people in this country extol individuals’ freedom, while mocking anyone who does not fit into a status quo.

Is it just me, but have you noticed since the “Secret UN Meeting”, that there seems to be more presence of UFO’s around the world. More cities and nations are talking about “Emergency Preparedness”. Even up here in Canada, we have been covering the sightings of Stephenville Texas and the Pheonix Lights on our evening news. Also more countries are disclosing what they know about UFO’s. Is this all part of the “Secret UN Meeting”, to make it a common everyday event to see and hear about Aliens and UFO’s, so that when the day comes, we will be de-sensitized to the fact that we “ARE NOT ALONE”, hhhhhmmm

I love what Steve said there, and agree with it for the most part. Here however I don’t feel the city needs to be concerned about an issue which the federal government should be handling. This obviously is a job for the federal government and the city should focus on city issues. The city should review and comment as you state as long as any person doesn’t become a nuisance with monthly suggestions that continously have no merit. There’s a thin line between personal freedom and creating a nuisance for the city government. Every circumstance should be evaluated individually so we don’t impinge on personal freedoms.

The truth is (re your question about whether city personnel should receive training for possible encounters, etc.) such training is already conducted. Many fire departments already possess government-provided instructions on responding to a UFO crash emergency and how to handle radio-active debris, etc. The Air Force has instructions for reporting encounters, sightings etc., all of which is highly restricted. Air Force Academy cadets receive instruction in their courses re UFOs. Federal law prohibits contact by private citizens with aliens, punishable with severe sanctions if violated. All of this for a phenomenon that supposedly does not exist? Ever wonder where these phantom military crews, helicopters, trucks, etc., come from within hours when a UFO “crash” occurs? And how is it that state and other law enforcement responding to such incidents participate in cordoning off an incident site, but later seem to suffer from amnesia when queried about what took place? And surprise! Desk blotters and reports are mysteriously lacking that detail any such incidents? Add to that strange mix the media’s strong reluctance to report seriously on such incidents. The only thing “impossible” about such occurrences is the insane policy the government persists in adhering to concerning any serious UFO incident.

Steve, you’re comment on the mocking anyone who does not fit into the status quo is an excellent point which shows the hypoctrical attitude of mainstream narrow mindedness.

One reason is after a bg stry comes out some poeple want to get in on it and make up stuff. that always happens but more so after a famous siting.

It doesn’t matter if a bum off the street suggested it, the fact is more and more objects of unknown and seemingly impossible feats are comeing around. There has to be a reason for it. By the way, Thomas Edison was thought to be retarded as a child and look what he did.
If there are increasing dangers, then why wait until something terrible happens to stop laughing at this man, proving him right. The history channel showed one taping of where one UFO chased another UFO until it caught up with it and imploded with it. If there is violence in space then why not on earth. They should be finding out just how behind them we are. I have seen 3 UFO’s that were like nothing else
