Local Reporting of UFOs

Monday June 16, 2008
The recent release of UFO files from the British National Archives, has gotten an immense amount of press coverage, from Larry King Live to all of the major news services.

I was shocked to see it covered on my local television station from Waco, Texas. This is something that just never happens. They may have reported on the Texas sightings, but only briefly. It is strange to me, that although my home state makes a lot of UFO sighting reports, the press down here is usually silent on UFOs, and on the rare occasions that they do report them, it is usually with tongue in cheek, and accompanied with X-files music. It does seem however, that things are loosening up a bit, with most of the national coverage being mostly without prejudice.

I would like to ask all of you readers to tell me how UFOs are covered in the press in your area. Do they report them? What attitude does your local news coverage have toward UFOs?

Hi Billy, I’m from Braxton Co., central WVa. Maybe you’ve heard of the Flatwoods Green Monster? This strange being was tall as a small tree. The UFO was said to be (by eye witnesses) like a huge round globe like thing, and actually landed on a small hill leaving an imprint on the ground, so it wasn’t the usual disk shape we’re most familiar with. I used to live in Flatwoods, but now live about 20 miles from there. I’ve alway wondered what happened to this creature, since the UFO left, but it was seen later that evening sometime after darkness closed in. The military came and investigated, and interviewed witnesses which were quite a few. You can even read about the incident in the Encyclopedia Britanica. We’ve never had another such incident, but I’m sure that if there was, our local papers would jump on it, but we’re just a small town. When I was a kid, though, my sisters and I had a couple sightings, and so did our father. I’m pretty sure on one occasion, after watching one maneuvering around the point of a mountain across from our home, I was abducted. Long story there. I’ve had several sightings since then in this area. Back through the ’50’s especially from ‘53 - ‘60 it seemed that this area was on “their” list. When you enter the town of Flatwoods, there’s a sign that says, “Welcome to Flatwoods, Home of the Green Monster.” Appreciate the work and keeping us informed. Thanks. (: I’ve been watching the skys since as far back as I can remember. It’s my greatest wish and hope that before I leave the planet, we’ll know the truth about these otherworldly visitors. If there’s ever another UFO sighting or landing here, you can bet I’ll make sure it’s not swept under the rug!

The Press here is a little more open than they use to be, but its like your place, X-File music usually and that sort of thing…I didn’t see the recent report made here in the news, but it would be a good one to make. Most of the people here believe in them from what I here from others, so in that aspect it has opened up some, and no one trust the government to tell the truth, they earned that rep nationwide. I’d love it if we had a major sighting like the Texas sightings as of lately, for Arkansas it would go wild I would think, people can get really excited here, haha, which in some ways that would be good. The best thing is that we do hear about them on the evening news now, so its not all hushed up, thankfully for that we can say we have made some in-roads. Keep your eyes on the sky.

Hey the names Mel where I live right now(USA….GA) nothing happens. But most of the time UFOs are spoted in the texas and western region is because think about it Area 51 “WAS” there in that reagion, but now it may seem that things calmed done because they moved it. Some people go missing when they look for Area 51 1 warning all you get before they shot you. You have to think that the US Goverment isn’t hiding something. They moved it out of its origenil locaton…..this isnt even on the subject sorry.
