Here's something to chew on, and I know it will cause some controversy among our readers. Scientists from the US and Europe have announced that genetic material that originated from outer space might prove that "we" originated from some other life form.
This material was found in a meteorite in Australia. Scientists, they say, have actually proven that two bits of coding, called nucleobases, are extraterrestrial.
Allegedly, these two bits of coding, uracil and xanthine, are present in our DNA, and would have been necessary for life to form here on Earth.
Now, here comes the problem. I don't doubt that they have found what they say they have, however, our Creator could have used any method that He desired to create mankind. My question to you is this: Why do scientists always try to find a way to explain the creation of life on Earth without God? If these two nucleobases are essential to life, where did they come from, and who created them? Get my drift? Tell me your thoughts on this.

I just believe their is a God of the universe who is the origin of life. The process of how life formed, to me, is irrelevant to questioning why life came about.

Why can’t God create the universe and be done with it? I think creating a universe that is self-sustaining and self-generating is a greater feat than having to go around and micro-manage every planet. Sure God is all powerful, but the universe goes for easy every time, and also is founded on processes that function *because of* their structure. Chemicals interact because of their structure, so do particles because of their form. My God created the universe with a Big Bang, from “his” own self. We each carry a part of God with us as it is “his” “body” we are formed from. I think My God is a bit more powerful than the one who has to go around dropping animals on each planet made from clay or some such. Evolution of belief anyone?
Scientists are trying to find out the details, mechanics, if you will, of how life works. They are concerned with repeatable results only. Belief in God is a matter of faith – not a reproducable or peer reviewed result. Science and math are not very compatible with religion because faith is a “leap” rather than a step by step provable process. It’s really a question of “HOW” does it happen rather than “WHY” it happens. Science is “HOW”, faith is “WHY”. They are not necessarily incompatible but just difficult to reconcile. God makes iron ore, we make Buicks out of it. God doesn’t need to detail how to make a buick – that’s our part of the deal.

The universe is eternal as is God. We may find out about some of the basic elements involved, but we will never get to the bottom of it cuz its a bottomless well.
Why should there be a “god’? If it/he/her made all life – forms, on this planet and all the others that sustain life in all its strange forms, I’d like to know, who made it (god)? And who/what made it, and so on and on and on…
We – life, just evolved, just a mass of chemicals, why need a god? Just except it. Things are just weird, and its mind-blowing to think about space, time ect.

science will not answer the question to whether there is a God or not. It tell us how something happens not why it happens, it is easy to mix up the two. The concept of having a beginning only applies to creation not the Creator.

even if you had nucleotides, the building blocks of DNA you’d need a protein to read it to make more proteins. I remember from the natural history musuem visits they thought pools of amino acids (protein building blocks) came first and the first cells eveolved from this (maybe from DNA of meteors or just evolved by itself). They might be saying nucleic acids from another world influenced life on earth. However most nucleic acid I imagine would have been degraded by now. It’s even hard to find intact DNA from the Dinosaur days. If nucleic acids were in the asteriod I would think it would tell us more about life on other planets, although I think they are probably misinterpreting the chemcials they found.
There is no point believing in a God without evidence as you substitute one unknown with another about how life was created into what created God. Did another even more powerful God create your God and so on and on…

Science cannot eliminate the existence of a God existing at some point in time, but that does not mean one definitely exists (for all you deluded folks). But Science can and probably will eliminate all the basic beliefs of current religions including the already disproven belief of the 6 or 7 day creation of the Earth (LOL @ that absolute insane belief).

I’m sorry but I do not believe we started out as an ape or a fish. All that you need to do is open your eyes. Look at the vastness of the universe & the complexity of our own bodies. It all has an intricate design that works in unison. This could only have come from a creator. It’s all too perfect. I believe in God & that “He IS” the creator.
Why is it that every time we don’t have an answer to questions, we credit it to God. Please look at these issues:
1. More pain, suffering, and death have been caused in the name of religion than anything else I know of. For example, the extermination of Jews by Hitler, the torture and death by the Spanish Inquisition, etc.

3. There was a long span of time between Adam and Eve, and when man could write, and we all know how accurate word of mouth is.

Life started on Earth as single celled organisms millions of years ago long before religions existed in people’s minds. That is a proven fact due to fossil records that we have. The fact that your bible has the Earth at a few thousand years old means the bible has lost any credibility of being anything other than stories written by man.
You say everything is too perfect yet you show imperfection by being deluded.
So if your God existed then he must be a failure which implies that he is not all-powerful and so contradicts your naive beliefs. This most likely means you’re wrong.

Moving onto UFOs/ET which is what this forum is meant for. We have an abundant amount of evidence for this from radar traces, pilots observing the same thing from multiple locations, mass sightings, goverment documents released under freedom of information act with most of the page blanked out. The last point is proof alone that information is being kept secret. There’s no way an entire document on an event only contains an entire page of people’s names which could be the only acceptable reason for it to be blanked out due to the individual’s privacy rights.
To the issue on this particular blog – with the age of the universe being around 13.7 billion years at latest approximation and the sun & solar system being around 4.57 billion years old (including the Earth), we could assume that certain atoms of the sun and Earth are made up of atoms from other exploded stars (supernovae) which died before our solar system was made. It is quite possible that life evolved elsewhere first and matter was transferred from other star systems colliding into the Earth in its early days. This could have helped to seed life or add it’s own genetic material to any current genetic material which may have already started to evolve life already.
Therefore from that theory life could have existed or currently exist on other worlds sharing with humans those two bits of coding found in the meteorite. That could mean extraterrestrials could look like us or even exactly like us apart from minor differences but enough to blend into a crowd without anyone noticing. It is ironic that most credible witnesses of seeing an extraterrestrial claim they look humanoid like us. This last paragraph is all speculation of course.

Religions are just a cult that recruits people by either scaring them or attempts at group pressure to believe. People’s beliefs are contagious to people who wants answers now and cannot wait, and to those who think they are extra special. Those people need to feel that to be happy, and in some cases if anyone disagrees they use religion as an excuse to kill people. Those kind of people could have a mental disorder which makes them behave in that way. Such a sad sad situation.

Maybe we’re hard-wired to believe in a being as a survival mechanism? Simply repeating what others have thought.
The universe seems orderly and all that stuff, but it’s a very violent and unforgiving place. It’s just that we’re tucked into this little corner of it, seemingly safe and sound going around and around. Perhaps we have become too comfortable on spaceship Earth. But that can change in an instant and our lives could be turned upside down by a meteor, comet, gamma ray burst, or a number of things to make it a bad day. My point is it’s a dynamic and dangerous universe. We should enjoy this relatively calm period of its history, but not be oblivious to the reality of it. We’re pretty lucky to be able to realize how lucky we are. Of course, if we don’t mess things below the atmosphere first.
I guess I don’t need a creator to explain things that have taken billions of years to evolve. BILLIONS of years! We can’t grasp the concept and weight of that length of time. Perhaps that’s another reason for religion. To make sense of something our minds are unable to understand.
Scientists aren’t working to disprove a god or religion. They are working to figure out what makes the universe tick. To find out how we figure into the big picture and how/why we got here and this far. It’s important for our future.
It disturbs me when someone would accuse science of trying to disprove God. That’s not its motivation or purpose of scientific research. God is separate from science, as it should be. We don’t allow politics and religion to mix, do we? What’s wrong with scientific exploration and learning? We know how restrictive the church was earlier in its history and what it did to the learned, so let’s not repeat that intellectually dark period of history again.
As someone said (or I will), if you’re uncomfortable with your religious beliefs and feel threatened by science, perhaps your beliefs aren’t as believable as you thought they were. That is why faith needs no evidence and is the basis of most to all religions. Science is the opposite and demands evidence without relying on faith. But I don’t think one should try to prove or disprove the other. They can coexist, if you would let them.
Many men in one way or the other are trying to distance themselves from God so that they will not feel that they are responsible to Him. Thus they believe that they have freed themselves from responsibility to a higher power. The amazing thing to me is that so many people believe that billions of very lucky accidents brought all this about or believe that intelligent aliens made us without questioning where the aliens came from.
Can we at last reiterate Science is not believing. Science is testing theories by experimental methods which can be repeated and thus proven to be correct.

Scientists don’t try to prove the creation of life without (G)od because they are concerned with FACTS; facts which can be empirically demonstrated in the laboratory, or proven mathmatically. ‘God’ is a matter of faith and cannot be proven at all. All the “proofs” which religionists haul out are opinions, none of which can be proven. Unless one excepts a pronouncement from the Bible or some other religious source as proof. And that’s not science.
i started wondering…if god created heaven and earth, did he create life on other planets or even the universe?? if so, why isn’t it recorded in our history. And if there is no history recorded on beings outside of earth, did god really create humans on earth? I think it’s great they are searching! Becuase I know that in there search the truth will reveal itself! Science cannot prove there is no God, and it is my personal opinion that God puts the desire in us to go search for the truth. Even if we start out believing we came from the stars or anything else! First The Bible tells you that the Angels actually did all of the creation of the universe. They take NO credit, hence why their names are not really mentioned.
Second, war is a trade mark of Satan/fallen angels/etc.The first war ever, took place in heaven and was between the angle Jesus and the angel that became Satan,lucifer,etc.
Third, looking at the BIG picture. There is more than one form of life. You have angels, man and of course a creator.
Also, Satan and millions of angels were the care takers of the earth before man was even created. Hence the encounter of
eve and Satan.
Just focus on the bigger picture and not so much on the single events that the bible talks about. It is the oldest piece of written information we have to our past. These stories are carved in stone in Egyptian pyramids written by our ancient ancestors.
And last of all, don’t let science lead confuse you either. A lot of so called scientific discoveries are mentioned in the Bible. Light times a constant speed equals energy, the DNA pairing is explained in the 12 tribes of Juda, Adam&Eve becoming smarter, but losing their life span shows genetic tampering. The Earth being sphere shaped. The numbers 60 and 12 being responsible for how we track time on earth and yearly cycles, etc.
I conclude that they both go hand in hand in helping to better understand them both.

The scientists are not trying to exclude god from anything, because there’s no need to do so. Science tries to build up evidence to help us understand reality. As far as I know, there is NO evidence for god, besides what is written in some books. In turn we could ask, if there is a god, where did it come from? Was it created by another god? Then where did that god come from? Perhaps our minds are not really able to comprehend the Universe, but I don’t believe any “man made” religion could ever be complex enough to explain reality.

Let me start by saying that as a scientist myself you can easily believe something you can study. How far fetched is a story of a great being descending from the sky to perform all these amazing things like creation of mankind, yet we dismiss aliens descending from the sky? Isn’t god an alien? Space holds the key to life itself. Not a mythical person with more powers than David Copperfield!. Until we can do a post morton on god himself when he falls from the sky, then I’m afraid the real physical we can see are by far more believable than someone who exists as a myth or a one if the main characters in an ancient book from the equivalent Stephen king of old.
