As early as 1963, Gordon Cooper related to the Australian station tracking his Mercury capsule, that he was seeing a green, glowing object ahead of him in space. Later, while speaking to a panel from the United Nations in 1985, he stated: ''I believe that these extraterrestrial vehicles and their crews are visiting this planet from other planets... Most astronauts were reluctant to discuss UFOs.''
In 1965, Ed White, and compadre James McDivitt, claimed that they saw an unknown, metallic object with arm-like appendages. This sighting occurred while on board their Gemini spacecraft. It has been said, and it only reasonable to assume, that photographs were taken of the object, but, of course, the public has never seen them, and probably never will.
One of the most well known quotes on UFOs was made in 1979 by Maurice Chatelain, who was former chief of NASA Communications Systems. His statement: ..."all Apollo and Gemini flights were followed, both at a distance and sometimes also quite closely, by space vehicles of extraterrestrial origin flying saucers, or UFOs, if you want to call them by that name. Every time it occurred, the astronauts informed Mission Control, who then ordered absolute silence,'' is a direct claim that NASA covers up encounters with the unknown.

I wouldn’t be reading this site if I didn’t think so… lol
Judging by the fact that some of those who have been officially involved have peeled away some of the official cover while, apparently, suffering no serious consequence, it seems possible that there could be disagreement within official circles as to how, exactly, to deal with the UFO phenomena. In other words, I think that some people are trying very hard to maintain a smokescreen while others are content to allow some of it to blow away.
Gadrannanna makes a good point and I agree with it. I kinda wonder how this is effecting those NASA guys that came forward recently….while the government might make their personal life a pain with things they like to pull, like IRS tax audits and anything else they can bring to make life a pain, they can’t very well off the guys these days, too much public attention to the matter, the public isn’t dumb and do speak out now. The more of them that come forward the better off they will all be and we’ll all be better off for it too. I hope to see more of these guys come forward with their reports and knowledge of this UFO cover-up that has been going on for way too long. It would be great to hear the reports being made on the news everyday without any of the funny stuff they like to say, just another news story for the day. Then it will be accepted into the mainstream American home.
I remember my standard answer when asked if I thought UFO’S were real.”I would like to think with all of these stars, there could be other worlds near them with advanced life but the distances would prevent us from ever really knowing”. I did not think they were real untill a friend and I in his convertible had a close encounter with a sphere of orange “energy” around this craft. We followed just five to ten car lenghts (close enough to see this ball of light had an object incased withiin it). In an instant my world changed and I knew two things; they are real and the distance problem is mute. I have followed NASA and astronomy close from then on. I’m not how or why the goverment ended up in charge of this mess, but I bet one day something is going to happen, there are going to be too many people involved for a cover to work. NASA is the key here, they who go in space know and I’m glad they are starting to tell us, about time.
My 69 yr old boyfriend and his friends saw several ufo’s in Illinois, during his teen years. They even watched military jets chase them when they were hoovering over the Japa powerplant. They also chased one that was following the Ohio river, this ufo had several witnesses that night. He also saw a “being” in the woods who was 8+ feet tall, with red “skin” and red pulsating veins.
