UFOs Drain Electric Power?

Wednesday December 3, 2008
At the beginning of this month, there was a massive power outage in Chorley, in the UK. More than 14,000 residents were effected when two sub stations lost power for several minutes. One John Szwarc, of Greenside, Euxton, was driving down the road at the time of the outage, when he saw two strange objects in the sky.

"There were two UFOs. The main one was a huge, bright cross which shone with a brilliant silver colour, although my wife thought that it was more a gold colour. There was also a small globe or circular object close to it, composed of the same uncanny brilliance," Szwarc remarked.

Power company representatives did confirm the power failure, but had no definitive explanation for it. We have heard in the past how UFOs are often seen near power stations, and I wondered what our readers thought about this as to the reasons why. What do UFOs do with this electricity? Let us know what you think.

“UFO’S” were seen over the power plant’s stacks in Illinois several times in the 50/60’s and local residents watched as US military jets raced towards them. Of course they could never get close enough to engage anything. Always wondered what the attraction was to powerplants. Hard to believe that something so advanced would need a boost from our power supply. Someday we might be lucky to find out.

First I have to say that I don’t necessarily believe that these beings are from another planet or that they are even what many call aliens. But whatever is going on, it is real. They may be demons, or some other energy who knows. The universe is full of energy so I’m not sure.
But I do have a theory on the power losses and the time effect… Actually to me it makes quite a bit of sense. I think we all agree that these ships or whatever they are use some type of propulsion that effects time and space. So I think what happens is that when one of these things is near a car or power a time warp effect is created around the object. Anything outside this warp is in a different time space. This would explain why a car engine will appear to stop and when the ship leaves the area start itself. I don’t think a car can start itself so it only goes to reason that the car is still running, just in another time space. Maybe it slows it way down that it appears to stop? Not sure why this time warp doesn’t seem to affect humans, maybe it does. Probably has something to do with us being biological vs elec/mech.
Anyway, this definitely makes sense to me, agree or disagree?

(3) Cristin says:

On an episode of UFO Hunters, they went to Mexico to some little village outside of Mexico city. People there claimed to see a bright light and when ever the light grew brighter the village lights dimmed. It was also on video.

Now, they ended up coming to the conclusion that if there was some sort of problem, like a branch touching the line near the transponder or something like that…(I’m not an electrician) it could cause this light and continue to eat up energy until the branch blackened and fell off, or stopped touching the line, or was fixed. This lasted for 3 days. It was a remote small town though… The electrician professional they had on there said, if the branch/object was touching it and bouncing or blowing away from it periodically, it could have taken several days for it to burn away.

That is just one incident. I’m not placing this explanation on all of them.

About the time warping thing… I have heard people say that the UFO’s they see sometimes exhibit strange skipping like movements. It’s a long shot, but maybe that’s what that is. Warping just a few seconds ahead, or back.
Or, the people seeing them have low blood sugar or something, and their vision is whats warped… who knows.

December 3, 2008 at 1:06 pm
(4) Kevin says:

Cristin, I like the low blood sugar explaination. ;-) I did see that show and I think it’s fair to say that what they saw was a power short draining the power to the city. It never flew over their heads like the story claimed. I also think it’s fair to say that things aren’t always as they appear. And most of these can be explained away by just doing a little investigation. But when you have a police officer say that a large craft the size of a football field went right over his head and it shut the car off and when it left it went straight up in the blink of an eye and that the car started right back up after it left the area, that sounds like it’s a time space thing to me. And it’s definately not something we are familiar with for sure!

(8) John says:

Well these power cuts can happen for all sorts of mundane reasons. Just before Eastenders as people make cups of tea if the guy checking voltage levels were caught unaware or asleep on the job, a sub station could go offline. The tolerance isn’t very much so a just a few volts less can can the system to shutdown. And reboots can take longer than you may expect.

There was a documentary recently about how it was necessary to divert power from backup generators at specific times such as at half time during the world cup and European cups. This was all because of the large number of people boiling water for cups of tea at the same time. I know it sounds comical, but at the slight off chance that many people fancied tea at any one time, and it does happen occasionally, then power cuts can happen as the system becomes overloaded. The power output of the backups don’t always provide enough power either.

Anyway you could just easily say that the ufo wanted to observe a power cut, and is just as likely as them stealing leccy, and also as implausible. Therefore such random speculation doesn’t have much of a sound basis, and so we don’t have much to say about it. On the other hand they may have just wanted to charge up their 11-dimensional mobile video phones or even their warp drive. I’ve heard they have a power usage in the TeraWatts, and replacement batteries are difficult to get hold of.

For once, I can totally agree with, John. He makes sense and I believe he is totally right about this one. lol. The others are I think on valium shots. Sometimes a mains just burns or browns out and it takes more than one day to replace these. I have seen it with my own eyes. Those cables are as thick as an upper-arm and have to be dug out and dug in again. We had it in our neighbourhood 2 years ago. It was only that a mains was completely browned out.

On Saturday December 6th at around 21.00 there was a powercut in the Wolverhampton area. At the time, I looked out of the house window to see how many other houses were affected. I saw a bright orange light in the sky which I immediately thought to be a firework. However, the light continued to fly at a constant speed and constant height for approx. 30 seconds heading south. This sighting was immediately followed by a second ball of light following the exact path as the first. Power was resumed approx. 20 minutes later.

You know I can’t understand if you people want to joke around then joke around on someother site.I really think the ufos are seeing if we have any new knowledge that we can fight them with or that they can learn to do on there planet. They may be so advanced but still not have the power that we have. Maybe there planet doesn’t have water like we do to make power anymore. They have not caused us any problems but yet trying to see how they can shut our resources down so they can take over or maybe trying to figure out how to help our world since we are doing such a good job of destroying our planet ourselves. We will never know what they are doing until they come forward to let us know that we are there neighbors and they want to help us.(or destroy us)I feel they are trying to figure out what we are doing wrong and they try to help us improve ourselves. They must be peaceful beings or we would’nt be here now I am sure of that.Yes some take us and they have caused alot of pain to our people I don’t know what to say about that.except maybe they don’t know or feel our pain. They don’t realize they are frighting us.I think they are afraid of us also.Maybe they know we will never find peace within ourselves so they watch what we are doing and just checking things out so we don’t destroy them also.We will never know will we till they come and talk to us or our goverment lets us know what the heck is going on.So lets all be kind and get serious for a change and maybe they will come someday we don’t have to be cruel and joke around like we are children lets be serious adults amybe they will come then .Remember the ones that joke around and are cruel human beings only ruin this site and our chances for the TRUTH the truth is out there.

(14) John says:

Nah I wouldn’t joke about a serious ufo discussion, it’s just difficult to take this particular one seriously for the following reasons:

1. If they are observing our power usage, why do they need to hover so close to the power lines?
2. If they have anti-gravity aka free energy, then why do they need to steal electrical energy from power lines?
3. Why doesn’t anyone just state they saw a ufo, and a power cut occurred without trying to link things together? It removes credibility from the sighting to draw conclusions which are impossible to determine. It’s the same with statements of ufo altitudes and sizes, where the error is going to be at least 50% in the estimates, and therefore worthless.
4. Power cuts happen without ufos and we don’t say aliens in orbit caused it, do we?! No, because there are plenty of mundane reasons already discussed which cause power cuts.
5. Show me at least anecdotal evidence to suggest that there is a real link between a ufo and power cuts, i.e. a witness stating they saw lightning, sparks or beams between the two, or even a video or photo.
6. It’s human nature to connect the dots together where they just don’t fit.

OK this question doesn’t really make sense. Here’s why – electrical power as we use in our homes can be generated by many different methods, it’s not important to list them. For a start our methods are inefficient and our power stations burn fossil fuels usually or may be nuclear, geothermal & other renewables.

The production of electrical energy is relatively simple, and if they’ve mastered anti-grav then why not just use the same simple methods we use? Why not fly closer to the sun and use the solar energy output, it would probably be more effective and has unlimited supply. Why risk coming to a planet where the inhabitants haven’t evolved past tribal warfare? And isn’t the anti-grav ‘free energy’ convertable to electrical? Surely if they need it then they already use it, and they would have already developed a process to convert this energy? Or more likely just scrapped this old fashioned technology for something much more efficent. And if ‘free energy’ is an end-less supply, why would they need alternate sources?

It’s subjective to speculate that they may need our electrical energy. It’s more logical to assume a technological advanced race would have better methods, and you even said yourself that they may want to prevent us causing harm to our planet. Yet you think they are draining power from a sub station which in essence is harming the planet, as the power has been most likely produced from fossil fuels. How ethical would that be for a more advanced race?!

(16) John says:

linda granados said:

“They may be so advanced but still not have the power that we have.”

Or a better way of putting it is – that it would be a remarkable coincidence if they used the same voltages as us to be able to draw power from a sub station. You can’t even use a 240 V electronic device from the UK in the States where it’s 120 V, and this is on the same planet. Where are aliens from another star system going to get the devices to connect their ship to our power supply without blowing themselves up? And why bother specifically building one that works.

If you had said that the ufos could be of earthly origin stealing the leccy I would have said possibly, but you didn’t.

Anyway you strike me as one of the full out ufo believers who believe all of it – the whole job lot conspiracy and that almost every sighting is alien. There’s more garbage out there than anything really substancial. There are a few unexplainable ufo events, but this one isn’t one of them.

If people would be more critical then they would have more credibility, and by believing in everything you read is the cause of jokes made by others, and you can only blame yourselves for that.

Okay you guys, enough. We need to all realize that we will never get an answer from our government regarding these UFO sightings. I never expected to see what I and hundreds of others saw in Texas on October 23, 2008, but we all saw the same thing. Anyway, MUFON came to our area and interviewed many of us and our stories are real. MUFON explained to me that these crafts do indeed hook into our power lines and apparantly refuel. It makes sense to me (so many sightings in this area) since we are located less than 30 miles from a major nuclear power plant. My point is, if this is a government project of some kind, why not take it to a much less populated part of Texas for testing. Why come to a place so heavily populated to test their new project which scares the heck out of so many people. The huge craft we all saw was clearly followed by 6 or 7 military jets, which the Air Force confirmed were in the area on a routine training mission that night (first they denied any military activity and then changed their story 2 days later). I agree that those who think this is funny, should stay off this website. We don’t want your jokes–we just want answers (which we will never get). The stories MUFON told me made the hair raise to new heights on the back of my neck. Things like, years ago our military was ordered to shoot down one of these aircrafts and they returned fire that shot down 2 commercial airliners, so they have never again been ordered to fire upon a UFO. In other words, they were communicating that if provoked, they would take innocent lives if we didn’t leave them alone. So, I’m sure some of you are laughing, but I encourage you to contact MUFON and ask them about the 2 commercial airliners that got caught in the line of retaliation. I may be mistaken, but I believe the incident happened in the 60s and almost 200 people lost their lives. Sounds crazy, huh. I only wish I had had my tape recorder with me.

“They have not caused us any problems but yet trying to see how they can shut our resources down so they can take over or maybe trying to figure out how to help our world since we are doing such a good job of destroying our planet ourselves.”

Think about that for a second, how would they know no harm was caused. What if an old lady was watering her flowers, and the power cut caused her to slip off her chair and she damaged her hip, or worse broke her neck. Or even if she just hurt herself and couldn’t stand, and there wasn’t anyone who checked up on her, how would she cope. Death by dehydration? Or are you going to say the aliens scan the area to make sure everyone is ok? ROFL.

The same situation with Blossom Goodchild when she stated the aliens told her that a minor earth tremor would occur before their arrival, but no-one would be hurt. People die in their homes every day from tripping up and other seemingly ordinary accidents. There’s no way that aliens could say no-one would be hurt during an earth tremor. An even simpler example is that someone may have a heart attack seeing the ship, now is that causing harm or not.

Why even come into Earth’s atmosphere to destroy us? We have the technology already to nuke from a distance, and nukes can be produced cleaner without a great deal of radioactive fallout.

“Yes some take us and they have caused alot of pain to our people I don’t know what to say about that.except maybe they don’t know or feel our pain.”

Most ufo abductions are sleep paralysis or dreams. If they do abduct humans then they see us as farmers see cattle.

“So lets all be kind and get serious for a change and maybe they will come someday we don’t have to be cruel and joke around like we are children lets be serious adults amybe they will come then .”

Nah lets joke about this and talk more seriously about more credible sightings. Sarcasm is sometimes considered part of socialising in England, and not neccessarily implying animosity or childishness. If I met an alien I would try and make them laugh, I wouldn’t be all serious about first contact. They must be sick of seeing all the frightened and hostile people. Why do they never abduct anyone who says they tried to talk to the aliens, it’s always those who are terrified. Maybe aliens prefer the weaker to abduct, or more likely it’s only fears experienced in a waking dreaming state.

“Remember the ones that joke around and are cruel human beings only ruin this site and our chances for the TRUTH the truth is out there.”

Don’t be so up-tight, we all have an interest in ufos in general, and think they may be visiting, otherwise we wouldn’t be on this website. We have to separate the nonsense from the credible anecdotal evidence otherwise science will never take this subject seriously. And that’s the only way the truth can be determined. If you think that’s been cruel, it’s just being realistic. And a few sarcastic comments and jokes will not prevent disclosure. If you think it will then you need to stop being so paranoid looking for conspiracies at every corner. Just enjoy life and have fun.

Being an adult is not about believing everything you read about ufos, but instead being able to remove the junk from the pile. By treating junk seriously you’re only hindering your own thinking and the whole process of taking credible ufo sightings seriously by the scientific community.

Now remember if there were an actual link between power cuts and ufo sightings which were at least anecdotal and involved more than just someone who witnessed both occurring during a similar time interval, then the conversation could get past the laughing stage. It’s no more credible than for me to blame a police helicoper for a power cut just because I saw it fly over during one. Now if I witnessed the chopper shooting at the power cables, then hey presto, there’s the link. All which I ask is for is someone to show me a witness statement linking the ufo with the power cut in a similar way. It’s all good and well to say they could be linked, but it’s all woo-woo at this stage. Just bring a shred of credibility to the table and then this blog can shine with comments.

And don’t forget scientists generally wouldn’t take even anecdotal seriously unless there were physical evidence to prove the story. Just be lucky I’m not asking for that otherwise you would get mad. Fairly credible ufologers wouldn’t consider this a credible claim unless there were a link between the two taken from a witness statement, photo or video. So it’s the required standards set by the ufo community, not by me. And you can’t blame them, as if they took all woo-woo claims seriously they would find it difficult getting anyone to take the more credible claims seriously.

Of course there’s a possibility that there were nothing visible during an event where a ufo stole electricity. In that case, you have to look at the speculative points I’ve made about why they wouldn’t do that, and unless anyone can provide a reason that they would do that other than that they just might want to, then we have to take the null hypothesis.

December 8, 2008 at 6:29 pm
(19) John says:

@ dlw

I’ve seen a ufo I can’t explain so you don’t have to treat it as “you lot” vs “us lot”. You can still remain sceptical about what you actually saw, and all other sightings. It’s a problem most ufo believers have accepting that real sceptics can be on their side, and it’s not black and white about sides whatsoever.

Of course government projects are always a possibility and jumping to the aliens conclusion is premature.

It’s more plausible to suggest a government project ufo draws electricity from power lines etc, than from another world.

Anyway chill out man as you say in the States lol. Most ufo sightings are easily explainable and mundane, so why not joke about those. Or would you rather be indistinguishable from the woo-woo people who think Venus and the moon is a flying saucer. Just because you’ve seen an unexplainable ufo it doesn’t make all other sightings unexplainable. In fact if someone like you believes all other sightings it makes a rational person wonder if your sighting is credible, and that you’re easily influenced into believing something.

MUFON consists of many people, so when they said they told you various ufo stories do you trust the actual people who told you, and did you ask to see the reasoning behind what they said? Or did you just take it all at face value?

Although I wouldn’t be surprised if what someone from MUFON told you was true, and the Texas sightings which have been investigated by MUFON where they released a report clearly shows there was something unusual going on. Just remember someone who is being critical is not always working against you, and in fact being critical may be necessary to get hold of the physical evidence we can show to scientists and say “we told you so” lol.

To Mr. or Professor Sullivan: I am reading your publication at this time. So far, it is really a wonderful read. It sure makes me think of things I have thought of before, (ie.) Can you link to any reports that actually state more than there were a credible ufo sighting in the area at the time of a power cut?

How do you know these ufos were alien in origin, maybe they were all earth produced ufos?
