The first account was released by the Sun, which is known as a tabloid newspaper. However, in all fairness, numerous other British sites jumped on the story immediately. The objects were photographed by engineer Paul Slight, while a number of others watched the objects move through the night sky.
Many of these types of sightings have been identified as "Chinese Lanterns," which seem to be launched quite extensively in the United Kingdom. And this may well explain this recent event. The UFOs were called, "eerie, extraterrestrial" objects, but this may only be to sell newspapers, and bring in Internet surfers.

Billy,
From the photo, alone, I would say it is extremely difficult to say what was witnessed. Reading the article, though, it sounds like multiple witnesses saw four lights come from the left, go into the twenty lights, and dart quickly around the rest of the lights, and then they all shot upward extremely rapidly. I don’t think that sounds like lanterns or any other conventional craft that we know of. The photo, alone, though is really difficult to gauge much information from.
This is one of those photos that need witnesses to validate. I have seen balloons that look very much like these but the actions described by the witnesses rule out balloons or lanterns. We can be certain these are unknown flying objects.
These are merely government holograms.
Dear Billy, as you may remember, I had never seen or heard of Chinese Lanterns before. A couple of weeks ago was the closing ceremony for the IPL Cricket Tournament here in Centurion, South Africa. Between 50 – 100 Chinese Lanterns were let off into the sky. I looked at the picture of the 20 suspected UFO’s over Britain, and they look exactly like the Chinese Lanterns, the same shape, etc. that I saw. (definitely not even close to my UFO’s)
Notwithstanding statements by alleged witnesses that these objects were executing some amazing maneuvers, my considered opinion is that these objects are small hot-air balloons. Their contours match exactly those of a small, lightweight envelope with a bubble of hot air or possibly helium in it.
I would need to see and evaluate the other “stunning images” of this display allegedly taken, but until then I will consider these to be balloons.
Looks like hot air balloons.
Why even post this story? Its not even unusual, just ignorant people reporting hot air rising, jezzus Billy must be a slow week!
