It's "Official" There is Water on Moon

By , About.com GuideSeptember 30, 2009

The well respected web site, Space.com, has just reported that there is water on the Moon.

This announcement was made in the September 25 issue of the journal Science, and only validates earlier speculation by scientists.

We now know that water is scattered around our universe. Do you think this means there is a better chance of life existing outside of our planet?

It is strange that they found evidences of water 40 years after the landing. Why so late?

We have scientist that now believe we should skip the moon all together andjust concentrate on Mars. I think it will be some large company that looks at the moon as a possible “gold mined” for mineral extraction that will not only greatly benifit from moon exploration but will ultimately usher in colonization, first with workers, evantually with comfort and pleasure business. Image flying like a bird, how many people will that attract alone?

When you consider the progress made in the last 40 years, I would think we will never really populate a moon, Mars, or anywhere else. We can circle a ship around the globe over and over, but that’s about it.

I think that the challenges we now face in our world
will cause to have to explore other worlds, as a people we can’t contiune to destory our enviroment.
As with the race to the moon, we,as a population, thrive on the unknown and rise to the cause. Think of the old west.

The moon would be an inhospitable host. Since it has little or no atmosphere, radiation and meteorites would pound the surface. The temperatures would freeze us or burn us. It’s not a place I’d want to be.

(6) Scott says:

Unless you believe that God created the whole schabang for mankind to enjoy then logically you need to believe that life evolved on other planets. I’m sure there’s billions and billions of planets out there. There’s probably life on many of them. The laws of physics dictate that life will evolve and more intelligent life will be able to dominate and win out over less intelligent life. Despite our more fragile build homo sapiens won out over neaderthals. Water probably is necessary for life, but I don’t need people to tell me there’s water on other planets for me to know there is water out there. Water molecule form because the laws physics tell us hydrogen will mix with oxygen to form water. Of course it’s out there and all over the place.

Well, i obviosly think there is life out there espesially in the moon. I do agree with most bloggers about life out there but we still don’t have enough evidense to prove this theory. Maybe the water in the moon can help a little to prove it. :-)

(8) CV says:

Even though there is water, the thing is that the common everyday person will never get to experience going to the moon for any useful reason. Just as we have been disenfranchised here on earth the same applies to getting a chance to go to the moon. I know I will never make it off of this planet in my physical form. Even if they let the common man go up there, most will not be able to afford the hefty price tag for the trip.

According to what astronauts say that have been to the moon, they were warned by aliens to stay off of it. They collected their rocks and left. Can’t see any mining going on there.

Hey Pat ……… yeah, they got their rocks off n came home,…….. ( grin inserted here) Guess they are happy with that ???
I hear that certain people think that the moon is part of our earth, that was split off many moons ago by an astroid impact on the earth, ………. meaning there be a lot of Earthly Value-able minerals up there for the taking. Guess there are a lot of money hungry companies that would consider that……… Sad really, People think of next years profit ………. they don’t think that there may not be a year after that, ……. Yesterday is gone,….. Tomorrow never comes, you know ? There is only today ……. That alone will bring our world to it’s knees. Sometimes, my heart aches for the future of mankind.
