Tuesday Night - "V" the Mini-Series

Monday November 2, 2009

I don't know how many of you recall the 1983 mini-series "V," but I do, and as I recall, it was pretty cool. For those of you who are not familiar with the series, it was a standard fare of aliens, or the "Visitors," as they were called, coming to our planet and making arrangement to trade their advanced technology for our chemicals to help them save their failing world.

I won't tell you the rest, but things don't work out quite so well. The reason I am writing this is because this Tuesday night, November 3, a newly revamped, high tech version of "V" launches on ABC.

You can check out a preview video and see more about the new mini-series at "V," the Mini-Series. Check your local listings, and for those of you that watch, leave us some comments.

I saw all four hours of the 80s rerun tonight. I must admit it was dang good for that time period. I am taping the final chapter also, and will watch it. I am hopeful the new one will be as good.

Morena Baccarin is absolute beautiful. I’ll be watching just because she’s in it! What a babe!

Great Propaganda, good way for the Cabal to get us to hate Star persons so when the disclosure is released we will be scared and hateful hahahaha

(5) Bob says:

The new V will be great if they don’t focus to much on mouse eating and more on the story line. (In the 1983 version, the Visitors ate Earth Mice)!

Richard… how did you manage only 4 hours? I watched it for something like 8 hours yesterday. Sad… I know. ;-)

Anyway, it did get me thinking. Which came first? The “reptilians are bad aliens” theory or the “V” mini-series? Now I have some research to do today.

And like many before me I must point out.. D-9, V, Fourth Kind, Planet 51, & Avatar. Those are all within 6 months. Is there a point behind it? I don’t know… discuss amongst yourselves.

Ok… turns out the idea of Reptilians have been around for a long time…so “V” didn’t start it. phew!

The 80’s mim-series was very good, and the series started great too. The only complant was torwds the end it started killing off differnt vistors only to have them return as the brother/sister(mmm).
It will be nice see more of the conflict with the aliens, the orginal did that but didn’t explore as much as it could.
I just hope the show lives up to the hype and dosnt fall apart like the frist series.
The Idea of reptilians is an old story hook, going as far back the lrdgens of the Drangons, they used majic instead of technology.

(9) SUZIE says:

I kinda liked V in the 80’s but with better knowledge gained since the 80’s it’s harder to like a show that makes “visitors” out as evil.

For some reason anything that looks reptillian is evil, maybe it goes back to the Eve being tricked by a Snake/Satan.

But if any of you recall Babylon 5, J’Kar seemed evil at first but that was only because his planet was enslaved and they were fighting for freedom. Also later in the series it showed how compassionate their race was and their spiritual teachings were impressive.

Another example was on one of the Voyager episodes.
Chacotay was on a planet and was tricked into helping a very human like race to fight the evil looking reptile looking race who were portrayed as killers of innocent people. But in the end you find out the human looking race were the hateful ones, causing war and killing innocents.

As a human it is our nature to judge people by their looks and if you don’t look all sweet and pretty or you don’t have light skin you must be evil and should be killed .

Why am I saying this? TV can make any one or thing good or evil, it’s in the writers hands but don’t let it sway you into thinking that reptialins are evil.

Reptoids are very intellegent and kind, not the vicious warmongers they have been shown to be by the Cabal.

I too wonder why we are being bombarded with “not so nice” alien type movies. Are we being brained washed as how to act when the truth is disclosed?

(10) D. Akroyd says:

i finally got a chance to view the pilot and it was most impressive!

i esp. like how it explored the theological implications…since the first V in the 80s the catholic church has endorsed aliens!

OMG!

and so it will be when disclosure is unleashed on the “unwashed masses”

many will be deceived…

(11) Herman King says:

The first V series was a welcome change from the usual liberal twaddle: that all exterrestrials are intellectually and morally superor to us lowly earthlings.Like the liberal myth that only whites broke treaties with Indians. Pure BS.

(12) Sam B says:

I very much enjoyed the original series. It presented a very plausible scenario by means of which a superior alien society might subjugate Earth. It was well written and acted for TV of that era – rather than being a space opera (which is OK in and of itself) it was a story about people and our society coping with and ultimately resisting an insiduous usurpation of Earth’s collective sovereignty.

I hope the new series doesn’t become “Beverly Hills V” or something soapy like that. I hope it expands on the original premise and utilizes advances in storytelling to surpass the original.
