UFO over South Quadrant, Argentina

By , About.com GuideNovember 18, 2009

Follow me on:

Another UFO video that has gained some popularity lately is one submitted from Argentina. The video supposedly shows one glowing object in the night skies of South Quadrant on 09-28-09.

The video has dimension to it, but you have to be patient, as the 06:29 minute video has some redundancy. I think you will find it worth the wait.

Check this one out at UFO from Argentina, and give us your opinion.

Yep, that there is a light in the sky alright. Funny but I sees them every night outside while a sittin on my porch.
Either the video I saw was extremely grainy due to converting to a size suitable for youtube or it started out poor quality. Nothing special here folks.

It looked to me like the phone booth that Dr Who does his time traveling in. Could it be?

My impression of this video is that it depicts a bright star or possibly a planet such as Saturn or Jupiter. The only point of reference that appears consistently in this video is the vertical pole to the right of the object, and the relative positions of the two never change.

No anomalistic motion of the object is evident. The apparent motion is attributable to involuntary movement of the camcorder by the operator. This motion becomes more accentuated as the operator zooms in.

The autofocus on the camcorder is continually trying to adjust to what is essentially an infintely distant point of light, a very difficult target for the autofocus mechanism. The object goes in and out of focus numerous times due to this.

The apparent color and shape changes of this object are attributable to light diffraction by atmospheric turbulence. In other words, “twinkle”. This is expecially noticable in the out-of-focus frames. The same effect can be seen in a telescope if it is pointed at a bright star and “unfocused” until the star is a blob of light.

My conclusion is that this is most likely a bright star or planet misidentified by a well-intentioned observer as a UFO.
