Could We be Invaded by Space Aliens?

By May 5, 2010

Follow me on:

Staff writer Karen Rowans, of www.space.com, has written her comments on Stephen Hawking's statement which warned us away from searching for extraterrestrial life.

Could Extraterrestrials Really Invade Earth, and How?, addresses the possibility and means of the Earth being invaded by a hostile extraterrestrial race of beings.

The vast distances in space, the strain on the body, and economical concerns would prohibit such an invastion, according to Seth Shostak, who is quoted as saying, "It's not like, the hatch will open and we'll see a strange, alien paw coming out, it's more likely to be a robotic arm."

Do you worry about us being invaded? Check out the article, and tell us what you think.

Maybe that’s what the world needs…

Something that keeps us from fighting ourselves. Make us realize that the stupid things we fight about are just that…. “stupid”.

(3) Scott says:

It’s possible for sure. I was thinking about human nature and why we tend to be violent. It comes down to survival and the competition for limited resources as we evolved. The person best equiped to to survive can take the resources from the others and can survive and reproduce. This is true in much of the animal kingdom. We have bigger brains and can think and be more compassionate to other creatures than lower animals. However if it came down to survival again, I’m sure even an average good moral person could become violent/protective because his family’s life is on the line. Same might be true for any advanced civilization no matter how bright they are. Could any civilization (as a whole) overcome the need to survive and be compassionate to the bitter end. I don’t think so. So I think that it’s possible for an advanced civilization to be hostile. Although I think that advanced civilizations would tend to be more understand and compassionate as long as they aren’t under any terrible pressure.

What makes anyone think that a race more advanced than us would have any type of economic restraints that we do? Simply fact is that if said race wanted to does anyone think that we could do much of anything about it, I doubt it. For all that we think we know we are one step above monkeys and that is all.

Wonders never cease! Where do these eggheads get off equating extraterrestrial intelligence with ours? We are neophytes! Perhaps the eggheads should open their minds a little bit, and stop acting so stupid!

(6) Arlene says:

Hawking uses Europeans’ landing and initially settling on the North American continent, and all of the intended but also unintentional harm that came from their arrival, as an analogy, in his recent warning. He is encouraging us to look at our own human history when we consider waving a flag in space for other species. He isn’t saying don’t do it.

Hawking’s comment might have been taken as a comment on SETI and its work, so it’s no surprise that SETI and it’s “sister publication” space.com are a bit glib about Hawking’s recent warning.

Hawking is simply bringing up a point for consideration. He is not stating that one thing or another WILL occur – unlike Shostak and others in the referenced article.

How silly for anyone to suppose that they KNOW what will occur. So, why isn’t a healthy debate worth having, now, before any encounter? What’s the harm? None.

Just because Shostak and SETI have been listening to the space radio for thirty years doesn’t mean they have the market cornered on what first contact will be or be like.

It has been my experience that at least with Alians, sometimes you can reason with them, and sometimes they will even compromise.

But Robots? Not so much. They want to do everything by the book. Really frustrating.

(9) Mars Rover says:

They’ll come in a big mothership the size of earth getting as close to the sun as possible. That’s what they want, the sun. Then thousands of smaller ships deploy out surrounding our sun in a uniform pattern.

Once in place around the sun, each will expand an arm just like the mars rover does with it’s solar panels. They’ll begin to drain our sun of all it’s energy shooting it back to the mothership.

When our sun is dead, Earth & the people on it is just a bonus for them. They’ll take as much water as they need from our oceans to use on the mothership.

And finally, they’ll grab up as many humans as needed to enslave on their mothership, plus put a few of us in zoo-like cages for display.

They’ll leave the rest of us on earth to die with no sun. How long will the rest of us last? Nobody knows…

(13) Steven Adler says:

The truth of the matter is, I think if a race of humanoids would travel a vast distance, I doubt they would be interested in anything our planet has to offer. Granted, maybe they could use a bit of breeding stock . Other than that, the universe is full of natural resources and anyone that thinks we are at risk are pretty full of themselves. We would be nothing more than amusement to them, What do they want our gold ?… I think not… Oil, think again, platinum ? rare Earth minerals….. Our planet? maybe, but I’m sure there are billions of inhabitable rocks out there, Anyway they are here already and have been for some time. Now if they could just take care of getting rid of the evil manipulators, then we would have something that they might appreciate, a peaceful planet……………

Steven Adler:

I disagree. I believe that advanced sentient alien races with a similar ancestral lineage to us (no offence intended biblists) are probably quite rare, making us of great interest to races who have a different ancestral lineage to mankind.

This makes me think of the tv show – “Bewitched”. Maybe Samantha and her family were aliens. They could come and go as they pleased. They could build and destroy as they pleased….hummmm. Also, just because we maybe on a petry dish or the aliens did mate with the humans or taught the humans and we advanced in the way of torture, death and destruction. They decided to leave us alone – like an experiment. And see what happens in the end.

(18) Sinhar Iku says:

According to the Anunnaki Ulema:

The Grays have been living on Earth, Zeta Reticuli and throughout many other star systems for millions of years (they are basically the descendants of the dinosaurs and other reptilian and insectoid beings which first populated the universe before humanoids evolved.)

So we have already been “invaded” even before the Anunnaki created us 65,000 years ago.

The Grays live underground and underwater (near Puerto Rico and Alaska) and only started interacting with us when we started to have the capacity to detonate nuclear bombs, which is a threat both to their home on Earth as well as the transdimensional portals which they use to travel throughout this universe and to parallel universes and other dimensions.

Despite their advanced technology, they have been around so long that their DNA is starting to break down, resulting in a species-wide “genetic plague” similar to progeria, which makes them age too fast.

Since they need our DNA to reinvigorate their DNA, they have been abducting humans for a human-Gray hybrid breeding program since signing a treaty w/ Eisenhower, which exchanged a certain number of U.S. citizens per year for advanced Gray technology (e.g., the neutron bomb.)

They quickly broke the treaty, however, and have abducted millions of U.S. citizens, as well as citizens of other countries, during the last 60 years. They are currently on their 3rd generation of human-gray hybrids, and in contrast with the 1st and 2nd generations, it is extremely hard to tell the difference between a hybrid and a real human.

They eventually plan on establishing surface bases, wiping out humanity and replacing it entirely with a race of human-Gray hybrids who will all be connected telepathically and able to be controlled as a single unit, much like an ant colony.

Since the Anunnaki created us and love us, however, they are not going to let this happen. This is why they are going to return in 2022 and cleanse the Earth of all Grays, all human-Gray hybrids, all humans who work with the Grays, and any other humans who make a living by taking part in war, crime, polluting the Earth or hurting animals.

So if you work for the military, the mafia, an oil company or the meat industry, quit now!

(19) Sam B says:

Any civilization out there which is advanced enough to travel interstellar distances (by whatever means) is in a position to invade this planet any time they get ready to. My guess is that either they have developed past any colonialistic or imperialistic inclinations, or they don’t find anything about us or this planet to be worth the effort.

When an advanced civilization meets a less-advanced one, inevitably the less-advanced one is absorbed and ceases to exist as a distinct entity. At such time as we may be “invaded” or even openly contacted, the same process will begin for us – “we will be assmilated”, to borrow a phrase.

The problem with Seth Shostak is that he puts anthropomorphic limitations on potential aliens. That’s hardly surprising since SETI (Silly Effort To Investigate) is predicated on at least some ET’s being enough like humans to enable communication with us. And he’s wedded to the idea that the limitations of which we are aware (or which have at least been theorized) are absolute and immutable. This is closed minded and simplistic – at one time it was an “absolute” that the human body could not survive any speed over 13 mph, and Shostak is taking the same tack as did the long-vanished author of that idea.

When we ARE openly contacted by aliens, we will probably find that they are REALLY alien, meaning that they don’t use the same logic and thought processes that we do. What they may consider to be a peaceful contact might seem to us to be an attempt to subjugate us.

And that assumes that there is even a common method by which some form of communication could be established. We can’t communicate in any way with Horseshoe Crabs, and we live on the same planet. Who knows what greater barriers and differences may exist with a real ET race?

For me i think the Stargate show was one with a lot of information “being hidden in plain sight”.. even in one of the episodes, they made a mock tv show which was supposed to mimick them.. in one of the lines the general said something to the effect that “if there ever is a leak.. this will be a good way to deny it.. cos anyone would say he got it from the tv show” so its two things.. its either they did that to make us think there was really some program of the sort under wraps when there isn’t or they just put out a subliminal to those who will get it that the tv show is just a way of “Plausible Denial” for the government.. so that some people who this are gonna go ” he watches tv too much” which could be the case…. but what if its not? what if theres really something going on out there?
