Billy Booth

UFO Author in Hot Seat on TV Interview

By , About.com Guide   August 30, 2010

Follow me on:

One of the most discussed events lately has been author Leslie Kean's guest appearance on the Colbert Report. Kean has gotten a lot of attention lately as her new book, "UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go On the Record" is climbing up Amazon's list, and raising a lot of controversy.

I don't know what you think about Stephen Colbert, but he is the kind of host that you either love or hate, and in this case, he has really been in the hot seat from UFO proponents. He made fun of Kean, and UFOs in general. He does thrive on controversy.

One good thing that came from the interview was a renewed interest in the Chicago O'Hare UFO.

Check out the video of the interview at Colbert Bashes UFO Expert, Leslie Kean, and do comment as you see fit.

I believe that she did well! Keeping her calm and answering well to the questions without getting angry or frustrating. It could have gone much worse!

I think Stephen Colbert showed just how shallow he is by trying to make his guest Leslie Kean look somewhat of a fool ridiculing some very good comments she put forward.
It is so easy for people to knock someone else if their ideas or comments don’t fit into their own mind set.
It is obvious that Colbert is a knocker and I give Leslie Kean full credit for putting her views forward under the somewhat negative interviewing by Colbert.I wouldn’t watch any show he hosted.

What do you expect?!?! If you appear on a comedy show you’re going to get made fun of. You expected serious journalism?

Yes these type of hosts and presenters do not realise how silly they look with smirks on their faces and quips they use. They dont realise the subject is serious to many and all of us here. Its just beyond their understanding of what we believe and know. People all over the world today know of ufos and other beings seen to many and would like to know answers. The more people see and experience word keeps going round the world.

I also think she did a good job considering the circumstances. I watched Colbert’s show once, and that was it. I am one of the haters.

OK. I’m a Colbert fan always was, always will be. And if you have seen his show before, you know that even if he’s pro-”whatever the subject” , he’s going to make fun of them. It’s a comedy show after all. But she got what she wanted and that’s exposure. You know what they say “There is no bad publicity.”

I think Leslie did a great job of maintaining a professional approach with this idiotic clown colbert. I question why she would go on such a ridiculus show to promote her book? I don’t know anything about her, I must confess. She didn’t come acroos as a nutjob, but who knows. Seems like she could pick a saner outlet to sell her story.

You expected a “serious and in-depth discussion” on the Stephen Colbert Show!? HA!! It’s all done for pure, comedic entertainment!! Granted, she did get some good, needed publicity, but it was Stephen Colbert’s show!! He wouldn’t know a good story if it bit him in the arse!!

I very much expected this type of conversation between the two of them. It reminds me of a baby asking questions to an adult.

There’s a question at the site that links to the video. I asks:

“If Stephen Colbert Were to Run for President, Would You Vote for Him?”

Stephen Colbert studied acting and is an entertainer. And, he has played several different roles, although in an entirely different genre than Reagan or Schwarzenegger.

Stephen Colbert became extremely popular in April 2006, when he was the featured entertainer for the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, when he humorously lambasted former President Bush, who was present at the dinner. Although mainstream media was silent after the event. It was an internet sensation. And, the ratings of Colbert’s show the “Colbert Report” soared afterwards.

Well, I’d never vote for an entertainer for political office, we’ve have and have had too many entertainers in political office, already. And, some of them didn’t study to be entertainers, but those who did their track record is absolutely horrendous.

So, why should we expect anything other than entertainment when Colbert addresses the topic of UFOs?
