Would Confirmation of Alien Civilization Make Us Panic?

By , About.com GuideJanuary 31, 2011

Follow me on:

As you may know, so much has been written lately about the possibility of contact with extraterrestrial intelligence, that is has become almost commonplace. We wonder just how much our governments know... how much they are keeping from us.

Have we already made contact, and are they keeping this information from us? Some advocate that we should be kept in the dark, because we will panic if alien contact was announced to the general public.

Recently, Dr. Albert Harrison of the University of California's Davis campus made this statement: "The discovery of alien beings may be far less startling for generations that have been brought up with word processors, electronic calculators, avatars and cell phones as compared with earlier generations."

If you think about all of the possible ramifications of such an announcement, how do you think we would take this news? Would we panic, or could we handle it in a civilized manner?

We are contacted by aliens a long ago, but humans from the dark side do not want to become public.
Right now, dozens of advanced civilizations on the other side of the veil, just waiting for an order to move forward.
My friends, get ready because soon we will meet them. Do not Fear, because most of them are like us. Some of them have a funny faces. Despite some resistance from some religious groups, will be days of great celebration.
Now, you can call me crazy I do not care.
See you soon!

Yes, we have to protect them from the crazies. People are afraid of what they don’t understand.

The dangers are the same as they were 50 years ago — fundamentalist religious persons, fundamentalist atheists, and a certain number of scientists would go berserk. I do not think it would topple civilization, but it would make for a dicey few weeks.

The other concern is always the “cargo cult” effect.

Regardless, I think the benefits of peaceful contact with other civilizations now outweighs the possible dangers. Obviously I would prefer to avoid hostile contact, regardless of benefits.

Would it scare me/us ???… well… Happy not to be alone in creation at last….after the initial discovery… It might make me think twice about who I am and how they might see me… I know there those who say we shouldn’t worry about what others think of us, but without that constraint, Society would become so selfish acting that all else becomes moot… and destructive… (dude… sound familiar???) it gives us social boundarys and order (not to mention respect for others).
It would make me wonder, (since there is another world and you know there must be others)
I have to ask myself, What do I/we have to offer for my/our supper… so to speak… but even more I’d look to see what we have that they might want… could be anything from Ants or chocolate, to our water, to Zebras or zylophones… I think it might even bring the earth together for the first time since the fall… we know the devil doesn’t want that… Yeah people would be scared but Earth People live with their fear everyday… why should it overwhelm us because we discover we are not alone in the universe… most of us know that already…. so what else is new???????

When the Europeans came to the Americas, a lot of natives died from vile diseases for which they had no protection. Unless we are prepared for the same sort of mass die-off and possible extinction, we should avoid contact with any ETs until we know more about their biology, their evolution, and philosophy.

I am Native American, and that’s true. However I think the reverse could also be true for them. In King Soloman’s time, they called them the “Ant People”.

It cracks me up how people talk like they know/have all the answers yet give no proof!
Amazing!

I think something like this, you have to study this and find your own proof. For many who have studied this kind of stuff for years, to try to go back and re do everything for one person’s sake, and then another, it’s too much. Search and find your own answers.

Proof? well when a clear pic is shown every skeptic yells “photoshop” when a fuzzy pic is shown the same people complain about the quality, so needless to say the ones who demand proof will never accept what is presented.

Funny that the Vatican announced that is was ok to believe in aliens and ufos. Now why would they say that unless they know something about their existant already?

Many countries have already released proof that they exist and have been around for years. UNITED STATES are the hold outs, the “powers that be” are afraid that if the truth is admitted, they would lose their grip on American Citizens and no longer be in control.

So unless a space ship lands on your yard and a star visitor walks up to your door and knocks, you will be one of the non believers, is that what you are saying?

Here in America, we have space saucers. And we now also have airplanes that go under the water. The water looks smooth and no disturbance. And then the plane comes out of the water, nose pointing straight up, and then takes off. I have seen these from our US Military websites. About aliens, I think most people are use to the idea. But then there may be some idiots who want to kill them and call them evil, when they’re not. What’s worse, what is our US Military doing to these aliens? I hate the thought of an humans experiementing on aliens, and visa versa. But I heard that Aliens are minus one female chomazone (spellilng?) and they want to reintroduce it back into their genetics.

For those that need proof, look up and relieze that all those stars that you see are suns in defferent stages of development. It’s so self centered to think that we’re alone and until we relieze we’re the ones in the way of what could have been one of the greater civilizations on earth. Not America, not Russia nor China but our world, ours the people of earth, we represent not governments but a species from a planet, from one species, not race, but human beings..we’re all the same. we live, we perish the same way.

(12) PhilB says:

Anyone who does not believe by now that we are not alone has been hiding in cave since birth.

But there will always be people in denial because it would be too traumatic for their beliefs to cope with.

Even the Catholic Church has spoken up and said that they believe that there is intelligent life on other planets. The Catholic Church even operates their own CETI program in the US. Let’s hope the Catholic Church has gotten past killing non-Catholics as in the Holy Wars.

The proof of alien contact over thousands of years is everywhere in the world. Even our astronauts have come out and confirmed seeing alien UFOs and bases on the moon. Sailors have report ships being buzzed by UFOs and temporally been disabled by them. Soldiers have reported alien operations sighted on the ground in the middle east.

Hollywood has done some excellent scenarios of the possibilities of alien contact to prepare society for the realities. Whether it will be “V” or Close Encounters type of contact depends on the alien species which make contact.

I expect we will see more UFOs and quite possibly have “public” contacts as 12-23-12 approaches. Our planet is about to go through some major changes that will be of interest to any alien society.

How will some humans cope with learning that we are the equivalent to monkeys in galactic evolution? Can they handle it or run back in their caves? Or will we welcome them in hopes that they will help us with new technologies in energy, weather control, science and medicine. Or will they exterminate the human infestation that is destroying the planet? Are we the great experiment that’s gone wrong?

Yes there is good cause to fear these unknowns. But by nature most of us will think positive, that something good will come out of it all.

It may sound crazy or far fetched but I believe we are being prepared for this event with shows lik Ancient Aliens , UFO Hunters , as well as several others. I also feel that that when this takes place there will be alot of people that will take to the streets in an uproar of violence and turmoil because that is just some peoples nature. And there will also be the typical nutcases and crazies with alot of different beliefs and reasons of there own. I think if the World Goverments have proof and knowledge of any of this they should let there people know. There is not one human being that will truly know the motives of the ET,S there will be alot of speculation and ideas . The one thing we will have to all agree on around the world is that it,s not about our little plot of land we call our country any more it,s about our planet as whole . And the sooner we realize that one fact ,the better we will be able to help, prepare and protect each other . because when this event takes place we will no longer be devided by our faith or religion or up bringing we will just be Eathlings fighting to exist as just that. so I think if Goverments around the World know of this they should say so and maybe the world can finally join in a common cause and stop the nonsence thats going on now.

No no panic at all, the universe is expanding, whats to
panic about that? I will willingly go in one of those new
planets, if the air is fresher and the streets cleaners,
the grass greener, the oceans warm and clear, I am living right now. Sally

(15) Bruce says:

It is so obvious that we are not alone. Imagine all sand on the beaches around the world. Imagine each grain of sand is a star in our universe. Why the hell would only one grain of sand have life. We have al been created by what we believe is God. But God knows that he is just an advanced being from a solar system that developed far before ours. To deny the existence of other life on other world would be to deny that we are here.
