A new book about the search for intelligent life, First Contact: Scientific Breakthroughs in the Hunt for Life Beyond Earth by Marc Kaufman, names certain scientists who have ignored the so-called "giggle" factor, and are now discussing what would happen if this contact is made and officially announced.
Kaufman, the national editor for The Washington Post, also quotes Stephen Hawking, who has stated that he believes that ET life is out there, but we are making a mistake by attempting to contact them.
Kaufman also believes that not only is there life out there somewhere, but they are already here among us. Do you believe this?

Yes! I believe it! The aliens are here! How do I know? Because there’s no way my girlfriend could be from this planet! (hehe)
Seriously though, Stephen Hawking is awesome, one of my favorite “heroes” of all time. You can’t help but wonder the downfall for searching for life.
It’s a tough decision to make, I’m glad I’m not making it…
@cMEgo… Thanks I needed a laugh and that what perfect timing!
I have always believed that there were more scientists interested in UFO’s than they let on.
could hawkins be an et? hmmmmm!
I always wondered the same thing about Hawkings
There are billions of stars in galaxies and billions of galaxies. Number of planes with life could run into trillions. Some of the civilizations may be millions of years more advanced then us. So the question is why are they not already here. The answer may lay in either rarity of intelligent life beyond earth or laws of physics. The distances between stars and habitable planets are so vast that only way to communicate would be faster then light travel, Time travel, And use of worm wholes. All these are in the realm of science fiction at his time. It is quite possible that laws of relativity cannot be broken and nothing can go faster then the speed of light. If this is so then we may never be able to see the aliens. This is why we have not seen any. We are basically prisoners in our own space. Aliens are probably masters in manipulating the enviornment molecular strucutre. So they do not need to travel or mine exotic substances. They can make their own. Energy from the stars is enough to power any thing. Also they may be able to convert any form of matter to anything else. They may be able to extract energy di9rectly from any kind of matter. Because of this possibility they do not need to do any space travel.
Stephen Hawking will never believe not unless it presents itself before him. Only then would he become one of the many that have been enlightened with no material proof to give only his words. This whole thing is too big to ignore and I am sure is accepted as happening by scientists and all. I dont think there is any threat only some message trying to get through that we are not alone.
Of course this is true and I can convince anyone that this is true by 2 words- Al Gore
@ Scott… Amen!
Stephen Hawking is partly correct and that is because he hasn’t met an Alien. I have met only one Species of Grey and from what I know it’s species is benevolent to mankind. A retired American General testifies that Earth is visited by 59 identified Species of Aliens up to 1989 and 9 out of 11 Identified Species of Grey are Regressive. The 6Th man to walk upon the moon testifies he has seen Aliens. You believe in what you like but we know you are Not Alone.
