I saw this article on the Net that I thought was interesting, and you will too. According to US Scientists Work to Decipher Possible 'Alien' Signals, University of
California-Berkeley's Kepler team is taking a look at what might be signals from extraterrestrials.
According to a Project spokesman, "These signals look similar to what we think might be produced from an extraterrestrial technology." This sounds quite promising, but some of the scientists involved say not so fast, the signals may wind up being nothing at all.
I have often wondered, and maybe you have to; if they did find a legitimate signal, would they tell us? Have they already found one, and are keeping it secret?

They are sharing that something intriguing has been found, so that’s encouraging that yes, they may share findings as they’re made, as they have here.
Their prudence in not going off half cocked but studying the findings to determine what they found is the best that can be hoped for this early in the finding.
I think their responsibility to being able to prove what they found is the kind of credibility that bolsters any findings skewing towards UFO sightings or even other alien worlds. I’m staying tuned!
I think SETI would tell us. But come back the next day after the government forces them to change the story to it being an AT&T signal misunderstood (similar to what some think happen in Roswell years ago).
I think that SETI would tell the world… I am just not one of those conspiracy people and I suspect that if we got an alien signal (Especially in an election year – think about the bump in the polls Obama would get if he were president when we proved we were not alone) we would be told.
SETI is simply being careful not to jump to conclusions that, if shown wrong, would discredit the whole enterprise.
If the aliens are smart, they will tell us to wait here, they will come to us… just to avoid being contaminated by the Plague of stupidity and repeated and habitual violence of man on earth….

If aliens exist and are thousands of years ahead of us (or more), I can’t imagine them using any kind of signals or communication technology familiar to earthlings. There are probably good reasons SETI hasn’t discovered anything of consequence.
An interesting and informative week in the UK at Jodrell Bank. Check BBC Stargazers lots of discussion about the Universe and its mysterys and also they bring about the subject of ufos and aliens. Debunking or not its interesting they are including this talk also. Its been a good week weatherwise for focusing their telescopes and overall it is encouraging the young and everyone to get looking up at the beauty of the heavens.
Think they found the alien warning beacon alerting spacecraft of a very hostile and primitive planet – Earth.
Comparing alien communications to human communication technology is like comparing the old 27 Mhz AM CB radio band to the newer 1400 Mhz Digial technology. Doubt we even have the technology to build a receiver capable of even nearing their frequencies. If we did listen to their frequency all we would hear is noise without their digital decoder. Compared to them we have just discovered how to use a string between two tin cans.
Based on the 100s of exo-planets discovered so far, there’re an estimated 200 billion planets circling other stars in our galaxy. Just consider the odds of humans being the only “intelligent” life form. Based on the commonness of water and carbon, the odds are that life out there will be water & carbon based like us. It’s just a matter of time until extra-solar life is discovered.
Technology advanced beyond what we know?? Well – we don’t know how far we can advance science and technology yet. That’s the only true question we can’t answer at this point. The 1st telegraph line was strung in 1843. The entire world was traveling on animal power with just a few steam powered devices available. No one on Earth in 1843 imagined anything beyond that. Today we know only: there’re limits we cannot find a way around. And we’re a 1000 times more knowledgable than people were in 1843.
But if there is communication technology beyond what we know, we can speculate that those possessing it will know how to communicate in both the new and old ways.
Earth is pretty much in a desert, at the edge of the solar system. Any advanced civilisation would have sent their radio waves past us thousands of years ago maybe hundreds of thousands of years…The chances of finding intelligent life still using radio waves is minute..I am sure they’re here already and they are not using television and radio.LOL>
If we did recieve Alien signals, our government would cover it up like usual. Aliens do exist, they have been here for a long time. Our government has been getting tech from these things in exchange for using us civilians as there guinea pigs! I worked security for a military installation in nevada for years. Aliens, flying saucers, etc…… are REAL! Be Affraid!!

I’m just wondering why so many think that any other life forms would always be so far ahead of us. There could be planets that are still using smoke signals, telegraphs, morris code etc. The signals they may have found could be from some place close to us in how advanced they are or behind us.
The only way to be sure is when a UFO lands in your backyard and come out to talk! But don’t hold your breath until this happens!
In re Bonnie’s question- there may very likely be other worlds in other star systems that are far more primitive than ours, but they would have no way to visit or even contact us. Our particular star system is fairly young as the known universe goes; while the Big Bang is estimated to have occurred some 13.5 billion years ago (give or take a millenium or two) our sun is much younger, as is the planet Earth. Origin of predecessors to our modern (?) homo sapien man’s existance dates back just a few hundred thousand years- a mere eye-blink cosmologically speaking. Other star systems in the Milky Way Galaxy- and even more so in other older galaxies- could easily be at least twice or three times the age of our own. Imagine how much further life forms might have evolved and progressed, given an existance twice or three times (or 30, or 300) our own. Star systems have lready expired and been reborn times-over since the origin of the universe.

If the government was to share ufo information with the public then they lose power because info is power and they don’t want us to know what is going on at all!! I truely believe there are a lot of things held secret by the government and that will never be admitted at least in our lifetimes. Keep your eyes on the sky. As far as the ‘debunkers’ go, we know…all these sightings are birds playing frizzbee, or some such crap. They never have open minds even for the top sightings. with photos or video for proof. Sometimes they are right, but only a small percentage of the time.

After seeing many hints I have come to consider some if not all EBEs in their UFOs are not using radio waves for communication but are using light.
Whether beams, pulses, laser, plasma, infrared, ultravil or some other type.. I’m beginning to feel radio waves are not used. Could be the ionization around the craft that prevents radio wave transmissions, dunno.
I think they have made contact at seti and I have heard if they DO make contact that they are to tell the higher ups first and then they make the decision on they will tell the world or not….personally I think they made contact many many years ago.
