Today, June 23, has been declared "World Swastika Rehabilitation Day" by the Raelians UFO group. They have their reasons, but I can't see what this has to do with the study of UFOs and aliens.
It seems that the much-hated symbol of the NAZIs was not always a representation of evil, but something totally different. For thousands of years it has been used in various religions as a sign of doing the right thing.

It’s called a swastika but the symbol is a different design from what the Nazi’s changed it to be. The original Indian religious swastika could be thought of as we think of the horseshoe symbol, bringing good luck and well being. The linked Huff-Po article and inserted quote makes a powerful analogy to the Christian cross and the KKK, too. Because someone hijacked a symbol, altered or not, it shouldn’t obscure the original meaning behind the original symbol.

The swastika has been around for thousands of years. It’s an integral part of the Hindu religion. Hitler used it because he was under the impression that it represented a supernatural force of strength. Hitler slanted it for some reason – I guess to make it “his own”. Also, the Raelians have been contacting me. They wanted me to join their group – NOT !! I want nothing to do with these fanatics. Their leader, Rael, is a Quebecer just like me. He is under the impression that he is the only human that the aliens are contacting. I told them that this is wrong. Many others have had contact – not only him. After that, they got back to me with threatening messages. Those people need a life.
