It was on July 20, 1969, with the whole world watching, that Armstrong sat his boot down on the surface of our moon. The capsule that carried him and fellow astronaut Buzz Aldrin, was the "Eagle." When it landed, Armstrong proclaimed, "Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed."
When he took the first step on the surface, he uttered the famous phrase: "That's one small step for (a) man, one giant leap for mankind."
