After one has been studying UFOs for as long as I have, you begin to see how many sightings that occur and are not reported until some time after the event. This is especially true when you are dealing with government, military, and even commercial airline companies.
The case below is a perfect example of this; a UFO seen by three airplane pilots, several ground radar personnel and members of the Greece Air Force.
Here is a very compelling case that occurred in Greece in 2007, but did not reach the general public until 2009. It was kept under wraps by the Greek Aviation Authority and the Greek Air Force. When the details of the incident did become public, it created quite a media stir in Greece.
An audio recording between the Air Force pilot and the airport control tower was also made public. An official document which detailed the command for two F-16s to intercept a UFO was also made public. It was named 'Lightning 2.'
It was over the skies of Athens that the incident began. It was October 11, 2007 at 3:20 AM, when the captain of Olympic Airways flight 266 from Athens to London saw what he thought was a very unusual object in the sky. The object was moving to the west of Athens.
Description of Object
He described the object as somewhat star-like, but much larger and brighter. It also appeared to constantly change its shape. Strangely, two other captains soon reported the same thing. One was from Flight 730 to Kos, and the other was Flight 700 to Rhodes.
The sighting was also confirmed by the Athens Airport control tower personnel. The operators, via the naked eye, confirmed the object was speeding in the direction of Karystos, which is located on the island of Euboea. At this point, the information was forwarded to the Greek Air Force.
The Air Force soon confirmed they were already watching the object from their station on top of Parintha Mountain. They also stated that the object was indeed moving at a great speeds, and did not appear to be any known conventional aircraft.
Order to Intercept and Photograph
In time, the Air Force also noted that the UFO was extremely large and very bright. They requested that the object be photographed. However, there have not been any photographs released to the public so far.
Soon, two F-16s were scrambled to intercept the UFO; at the same time a number of control towers were monitoring the situation from the ground. It seems that when the F-16s got close to the unknown object, it sped away into the skies, and the jets were not able to make a close-up identification.
Incredibly, though operators were able to see the UFO with the naked eye, they were not able to track it on radar. Did the UFO have a type of stealth technology?
When details of this incident reached the public, the government came under fire. They were accused of deliberately covering up the case. Of course, they eventually came up with an explanation for the object.
Believe it or not, despite the UFO being witnessed by three different pilots, personnel at several radar stations, and the Greek Air Force, Venus was targeted as the culprit.
The captain of the Flight 266 is still convinced that he did not mistake Venus for the UFO. This is one of those cases that needs further investigation and disclosure. The people do have a right to know. We want to know!
