The following account of a disc-shaped UFO seen in New York and possible alien encounter was first submitted to MUFON. The event occurred in the Summer of 2008.
Although encounters with aliens are often met with suspicion, there are a number of great cases. Two of my favorite ones are the Kelly Alien Invasion, and the Varese, Italy Alien.
Our eyewitness, as was his usual custom, was walking his dog with a friend in the wee hours of the morning. He and his friend, both 15-years-old at the time, always met up at a local elementary school, which was a half-way point to both of their houses.
On this particular night, the two had finished their walk, and our witness was walking back home alone. As he was about a block away from home, he glanced up into a clear sky, and felt that tomorrow would bring a beautiful day.
Disc-shaped UFO
His optimistic mood was immediately changed to one of apprehension as he saw something quite unusual; a large, saucer-shaped object moving quite fast overhead. He estimated that from his viewpoint, the UFO was about the size of a standard Frisbee if held at arm's length.
The unknown object was glowing as it went. The center of the UFO was white, with the outer edges more of a mustard-yellow color. He estimated that the saw the UFO for a couple of seconds, but long enough to never forget it. He felt to himself that what he was seeing was "not of this world."
What he had just seen almost paralyzed him. He just stood for a minute or two, wondering, "What do I do now, and who do I tell about this?"
His Dog Dixie
As he finally began to continue his walk home, suddenly his dog stopped in her tracks, turned around and began growling. This was totally out of the ordinary for her. She was his most easy-going pet, and always quiet.
The hair on the back of her head was standing up, and she was showing her teeth. He began to pull on the dog's leash, and summoning her, "Dixie, come on, come on."
The normally reserved Dixie then let out a loud and vicious bark. At the same time, our witness heard something; like the sound of someone quickly walking toward them from behind. Who or what was it? The steps got louder, closer, as Dixie began pulling hard on the leash, urging her master to follow.
They began running toward the house, our witness not wanting to look back, afraid of what he might see. Finally, as he got to his backyard, he let Dixie's leash go, and rushed into the safety of his home. This caused his mother to awaken. Seeing her son, she knew something was wrong.
Convincing Others
Seeing his was out of breath and frightened, she asked him what had happened. Our witness attempted in vain to convince her about the UFO and something or someone scaring him and Dixie on the way home. His mother did not believe him at first.
In a moment or two, the phone rang. It was his friend, who normally called after their nightly walk to be sure he had arrived safely. As he began to tell his friend what had occurred, he lost it, and burst into tears. Normally, the phone service in their home is 100%, but for some reason on this night, it kept disconnecting as he attempted to tell his friend about the night's experience.
As he retold his story to his mom, she began to believe him, seeing the sincerity in his eyes. He made numerous attempts to reconnect with his friend, but each time the phone would disconnect. Meanwhile Dixie laid at the back door for the rest of the night watching the backyard.
What happened to the teenage boy and his dog that night? Was seeing the UFO enough to make him imagine the footsteps? What about the dog's reaction? Was it just a person, or another dog? Were the phone problems only a coincidence? We will never know for sure.
