In Stafford, Virginia, on November 19, 2011, our witness was home alone. It was about 10:30 PM, and the sky was clear. She walked over to the back door to look outside, and saw a very bright object in the eastern sky.
The bright object was at a 45 degree angle, and it had very large white lights, along with a few blinking red lights. There were no green lights that are required by FAA regulations on planes. She was used to seeing planes at all times of the day and night, with several District of Columbia airports not too far away.
As far as UFOs go, the area is best known for the Washington D.C. Sightings of 1952, and the legend of Cordell Hull seeing alien bodies in the basement of the U.S. Capitol building.
Certainly No Conventional Craft
The object that she saw was much lower than any of the planes she normally witnessed. The only craft that the object could be was a helicopter with searchlights, but the lights of the UFO were not aimed toward the ground.
Also, she could not think of a reason that a helicopter would be in the area at that time. She did notice a plane in the sky at the time, but it was much higher in the sky than the unknown object. Her interest was piqued now, as the object began to move very slowly toward the south.
Finally, the object moved behind the trees in the back of her house. Although interested in the object and its movements, she felt that whatever it was, it would soon move on along, so she went and sat down. As she watched television, she could still monitor the section of the sky where the object was, so she occasionally checked on it.
Five to ten minutes went by, and when she checked on the object, she could see it slowly moving back the way it had gone. It now was closer to the house, and hovering over nearby power lines. It was at this point that she got the first clear view of the UFO.
Object Closer and Larger
It was much larger than she first imagined it to be. It had three extremely large, round white lights spaced across it. The lights were much larger than the lights on any plane she had ever seen, and she was now certain this was no helicopter. She knew the sound of helicopters well, as she often saw them flying to and from the Quantico Marine Corps Base.
She was able to hear a soft, low sound coming from the UFO. She walked out on the back porch to get a better view. It looked as if it was getting lower and lower to the ground as it moved ever so close. Because the flight of the UFO seemed very controlled, she had no fear of it crashing.
Frustration by Sole Witness
Later when interviewed about her sighting, she stated that "It was simply mesmerizing and I was transfixed watching it. I was frustrated that I was home alone and couldn't yell for someone to come see what I was seeing. As I watched with my jaw dropped open, it glided by very slowly and rather quietly, but not silently, almost overhead."
She added that the UFO continued gliding across the road in front of her house, and across the field as it curved toward the south and disappeared beyond the trees. She continued to watch for a while, and then went inside to find a camera in case it came back.
She was not able to get a photograph, but soon one of her sons arrived, and she told him about her sighting. Shortly thereafter, she spotted another bright light in the same vicinity as the first object. This time, she had a corroborating witness. Her son remarked at how low and bright the object was.
Finally, the second UFO flew to the North and out of sight. This would be the last time she saw the object.
