The state of Illinois has had some very high profile UFO reports. The most notable ones are the 2000 Triangle Sightings, and the O'Hare Airport Sighting of 2006.
On any given night, there are things that appear in the sky. Most of these can be explained if one has all of the information before them. However, now and then, something is seen that falls into the category of the unknown. The following is one of those cases. Here is a report of a sighting that occurred in May, 2012 in Colona.
The object seen by a man and his daughter was not something far away in the night sky. This object came dangerously close to them; they were frightened, and still feel that fear today.
Father and Daughter Experience Sighting
My daughter and I were sitting on lawn chairs at approximately 9:20 PM on Wednesday May 23rd, 2012 in the backyard by the back fence line.
We were just talking and enjoying the evening. Then we saw it; the falling green circular light.
There is a field that starts about 30 ft. directly behind the fence and then further back at the edge of the field, where there is a small river surrounded by a tree line that is approximately 1,000 feet back from our fence.
There are some trees to each side of the back fence to the north and south just behind the backyard fence. The trees were approximately 25ft. (diagonal) from us on either side. The trees are about 40 to 60 ft. tall. We were facing east.
The Green, Circular Object
Out of nowhere a green circular light (in between Kelly green and lime green color) approximately 75-80 ft. above us and 25 ft. from where we were sitting, appeared to be just a little smaller than the size of a soccer ball and came down at an angle and disappeared behind the top of the tree to the north.
It did not illuminate the area around it, and the only illumination was the circle object itself.
However, on each side of the circle there were two very small tails of light as it fell that were red/green and were fading. None of it lit the sky around it, which made it even really more perplexing.
There was no in-between color; it appeared as red directly on top of green. There was absolutely no noise at all. It was really close to us.
I wish I could draw the shape for you on this page that accurately shows the side small red/green trail. I tried with paint program but it's too inaccurate.
It wasn't that scary; it was more like: "did we really just see that?," and "what the heck was it?" "why didn't it make any noise?"
We were perplexed as to why this object just disappeared at the top of the trees. All common sense told us that the object could not just disappear in mid-air, it should have continued on below the limbs.
Not a Comet or Meteor
I'm sure anyone would assume that we were seeing a meteor or comet, but I assure you, this was not what this was. And to see what we saw without hearing any sound at all made it seem surreal, but we know what we saw.
If somehow we missed the object as it passed through the tree tops, then it had to have hit the ground, and would have made some type of sound.
