UFO Sighting Reports

Thursday August 7, 2008
Welcome to another session of UFO sighting reports. Here are some of the most interesting ones I have seen as of late.

Illinois-08-01-08-At exactly 10:00 PM, I happened to look north, and I saw two orbs, 1 heading southeast, and another north. Of course, I didn't have my camera with me. I ran inside and got it, but I was too late. One was flying in a very low altitude, moving slowly, and was silent.

The other one was heading due north only 5 seconds later. It was at a very high altitude, seemed to hesitate, and took then took off at an incredible speed. As it sped up, it light up the sky around it. These things are amazing. source: www.mufon.com

Minnesota-08-01-08-I went out on my back porch at at 11:45 PM. It was a moonless night, with clear skies. For about 10 minutes I was looking at the Big Dipper, and Orion's Belt, and then I was looking a very bright band of the Milky Way right above me. This is when I observed 4 objects moving from east to west in a tight formation. I first thought they might be planes, but soon saw that couldn't be.

The objects were of a crescent shape with a third point trailing them. I saw these objects for only about 5 seconds before they disappeared, but I could clearly see there was a grayish glow around them as they flew, and I could also hear a strange, humming sound. After they left, I stood in awe watching the sky for five minutes, it seemed. source: www.mufon.com

New York-08-01-08-We were approaching the bridge from the Kingston area to Rhinebeck to go home after shopping in Kingston and noticed all of the lights at the airport next to the bridge were on and flashing. Then we noticed a bright light in the sky above the bridge. First we thought it was an incoming plane until we realized it was not moving but just hovering at the top of the bridge. At this point we assumed it was a helicopter. We found out soon it was not.

As we approached the object, we listened for noise but there was none. We noticed that it was also glowing red, blue, and yellow as well as the bright white light. When we arrived underneath the object, my husband and son looked directly above us at it. It was round and slowly rotating as well as hovering in one spot with no noise. As we passed we looked behind to see it shoot very quickly about 1/2 mile south and then dead stop. It was so fast my son said it left a color trail from the lights.

I then saw it take off again very fast towards the south directly down the Hudson River and out of our sight. We were on a bridge and unable to stop or we would have investigated further. source: www.mufon.com

Washington-07-18-08-I was out after dark in Tumwater, WA, which is just south of the state capitol of Olympia. I looked up in the sky and saw three steady points of light in the shape of an equilateral triangle heading southwest. The back two lights were white. The front was sort of a peachy amber. The triangle appeared to be passing a star-like object, which I assumed was Jupiter. The lights seemed to be on a somewhat twisty path until I realized that this was an illusion caused by the fact that Jupiter was quite visibly heading east.

The object was way too large to be a satellite but, since it was well past the angle where the landing lights of a conventional aircraft would be expected to disappear and be replaced by colored blinkers, I wondered if maybe my memory might be strangely off. To make this story even more needlessly unbelievable, at that exact moment I saw a faint point of light-that is what I would presume to be an actual satellite cross Jupiter's path heading north as if presenting itself for purposes of comparison.

After the two unknowns were out of sight, I checked the clock of my truck which read 10:22 PM, about three hours later at exactly 1:30 AM, I saw another white light, this one smaller than Jupiter but still way too large to be a satellite, heading southeast across the night sky at about the clip of a jet airplane. This time I had the presence of mind to pull out my binoculars. As far as I could tell, the light was steady and alone without any blinkers or other colored lights. source: www.mufon.com

Washington-08-02-08-While 2 adults and one child were in our back yard enjoying a fire and looking at the night sky, we spotted a very bright light, a star burst shape, that was high in the sky and moving in a southeasterly direction. It was very bright at first. It was moving slowly in an erratic type motion, almost wobbling as it flew.

We commented that it was definitely not an airplane or a meteor. It started to fade, then was just a spot of light. It turned red and then disappeared. At the same time we saw a meteor shoot across the sky, so it was markedly different than the meteor. The whole event lasted about 30 seconds. We knew we had seen something remarkable and different than we had ever seen. source: www.mufon.com

That will do it for this time around, but be back next week for more UFO sighting reports. Until then, keep your eyes on the skies.

The report from NY was very interesting, I would like to find out more, especially why all the lights at the airport were blinking, this is strange to say the least and must be documented some way at the airport, or at least it should be. It was a good sighting report, and they say the craft very clearly, if your reading this New Yorker’s I would love to hear any added info you can think of, for example the name of the airport would be good. Thanks for the report!

Airport lights near my location will flash white colored (I think) strobes in foggy or hard to see conditions, and are located near the ends of the runway. I believe they can be activated by a certain radio frequency, such as by a pilot in a plane looking to land. I’m not sure of the exact pattern or color of flashing lights the UFO witnesses were describing, because they didn’t go into detail about it, but that’s one possibility.

The NY sighting was indeed extraordinary. To see the object go from a hover to a half mile in a short time is nothing a conventional jet could do. If it was a helicopter or Osprey (by some remote chance), they would produce loud noise that should be audible, especially if they were nearly or directly underneath the object looking up at it. But they said the object was silent and they could see it was round shaped and was rotating. Doesn’t sound or look like any aircraft I’m familiar with. The boy saying it was moving so fast that it produced a blur or color trail of light is fascinating. Wow.

My question to Minnesota would be: are Orion’s belt and the Big
Dipper in view at the same time in Minnesota? Seeing as how one (Dipper) is an early summer constellation, and the other (Orion’s belt) is a late winter constellation? Since I’m not a professional astronomer, I may be wrong in what I’m thinking, but I wouldn’t “think” that you could see both at the same time unless you were much further north. As I said, perhaps I’m wrong and will entertain comments. But - unless said comments are in fact correct, I would question the report of this sighting.
