British News Agency Dupes Public

By , About.com Guide   February 8, 2010

Follow me on:

Here is something that, in some ways, does not come as a surprise. The online news service, the Sun, reported on or about January 20, a video of an unknown flying object that reportedly flew over Dublin, Ireland.

It has been discovered and reported by a number of diehard youtube watchers that the video was actually taken over a year ago, and the location was nowhere near Ireland.

Check it out at Dublin UFO Actually from Iraq or California, and weigh in with comments as you wish.

I would be very surprised if The Sun was deliberately attempting to falsify information. The Sun does sometimes publish information which turns out to be incorrect but this is more likely because they feel it is worth publishing the story; it’s all about the sensation factor, not deception, in my opinion.

Here, here, Gadrannanna. “Duped” may assume malice where none was intended. Of course we know that the press makes mistakes, and perhaps that is all that happened. I wonder if The Sun was just trying to report a news item, (thereby support public discussion of reported UFO phenomenon), but made an unintended error? If this is what happened, they should be applauded for not blowing off UFO reports (as The Sun is a news outlet).

I believe so, Arlene.

It is important here to know that The Sun recently took up the role of the MOD UFO office which the MOD has shut down. Therefore The Sun is taking on responsibility.

People will probably put plenty of flak their way because of that: they would not want to deliberately make themselves look less credible and less trustworthy.

I liked the video that The Sun published. I don’t
believe that they tried to dupe people but i believe that it was per usual news reporting error.
I think it’s good that they have taken upon themselves the commitment of investigating UFO’s
from the public.

The Sun printed that story in good faith and made a mistake, they are doing a great deal of good bringing the subject to the public, they may not be the Times or the telegraph but they dont normally print lies… I think they are getting too hard a time over this.

It’s not the sensation of doing it up ,it’s the sensation of deception and falsefying for monentary gains. The Sun is well know for spreading FALSE ACUSATIONS THAT IS WHY THEY ARE SUED SO MUCH.It’s sad when you have to lie to make money I guess this is why everyone well almost everyone accepts lies and falsehoods. And that is why the next generation is soooo messed up.Do you all think the sun is a real newspaper????PLEASE.
