UFO Pictured in Hong Kong Thunderstorm?

By October 13, 2010

Follow me on:

Recently, a photo was published that created some interest among UFO students. Taken in Hong Kong, China, during a heavy thunderstorm, it shows an oval-shaped object at the top of sky-to-ground lightning strikes.

Radio Television Hong Kong has reported that the city's observatory received numerous UFO sighting reports in one hour during the storm. These UFO reports were mainly near the Tai Lam Tunnel, as over 13,000 lightning strikes were recorded during the storm in Hong Kong and surrounding areas.

Check out the report and photo at UFO Photographed in Hong Kong Thunderstorm, and comment as you see fit.

Not very impressive, looks like it could be just a small cloud to me. I do believe there are many more ufo sightings during thunderstoms but doubt that it’s because they’re intersted in them….more likely that more eyes are looking up and the lightening shows them off.

A hole in the clouds where the lightening has evaporated it at the discharge point. The lighter color cloud around the dark hole are alluminated by the lightening itself. Sorry NOT a ufo.

It looks like a cloud to me? Are we this desperate for proof that we see it, not because its there, but because we want it to be there?

I believe this is worth a bit more time and attention– I don’t perceive the “hole” reported by another commentor, but rather see what appears to be an object. What I also see is a curious sorce of multiple bolts of lightning concentrated on one specific point of origin– highly unusual, given the explanation for how lightning develops and discharges. Also, consider that lightning can also emanate/ originate from the ground up-, making this even more curious, should that be the case here– why would multiple bolts ground to the same point?

Consider that UFOs in the past have been reported to hover over power stations, frequently resulting in black-outs/ power failures, apparently from draining significant amounts of current from the substation.

Considering the tremendous voltage and strength of lightning bolts (typically 50,000 volts and hotter than the surface of the sun!) this might well be a case of UFOs recharging their batteries via the storm. Recall, for example, that the Roswell crash occurred during a violent thunderstorm, and that UFO sightings are commonly reported in conjuction with thunderstorms.

Lightning is incredibly powerful– the energy of a typical bolt could easily power a mid-sized city for an extended period. With the right capture technology, lightning could easily prove a ready and powerful source for UFOs to re-charge their batteries. Consider that globally, there are constantly thousands of lightning bolts striking the earth.

Considering the above, it may prove highly beneficial for UFO investigation purposes to examine more closely such reports, rather than to dismiss them summarily out of hand as so much nonsense.

I think the concept of UFO’s is fascinating.. that being said, this is a cloud.
One of the links to the photo also contain responses and it appears that this photo was submitted in 2009 as well.

As others have said, in much more eloquent terms, the probability that life exists beyond our galaxy, and possibly within it, are quite promising. However that doesn’t mean it’s intelligent, nor interested in traveling vast distances to visit a planet with a species as young as our own.
We’re like glorified ants is what it really comes down to. In the big scheme of things we’ve still in our infancy.
Unfortunately as long as we can see our own stupidity, others far more intelligent than us, can see our total ignorance far better than we can ever hope. Imagine how life was one hundred years ago.
That’s just one hundred years. Imagine what it’s like for a species that’s more evolved than us by merely ten thousand years?

Frank I agree with you! It does look as if there could be something there, and I recall on my “Fastwalkers” video they (UFOs) are attracted to thunder storms!

I wish your links would work a little more consistently. I do good to link up with 15% of them at any given time. Other than that, this is a great site.

(19) Ann says:

I couldn’t find the photo at bharat chronicle.

But, I did find it at ufocasebook.com, as Sam mentioned.

I think the object does look like part of a cloud, but it’s unusual in that there’s a lot of lightning bolts emitting from it. The photographer must have noted this was occurring from the “object” for a while to take a photo of it. Unless, of course, this was just a chance event and the photographer was just out taking random photos of thunderstorms.

A commentator at ufocasebook said this photo is enlargement of the same photo sent in to Mufon(?) last year.

Russ, yes indeed: “Weíre like glorified ants is what it really comes down to …” But, it goes much farther. It’s almost a feeling we have that we deserve to be visited. Why should any advanced ET want to contact us? We can’t even get along with our own species, warring with each other all the time, while some us have yet to understand that we’re actually destroying our own planet in numerous ways. In fact, we as a species might not even make it another 200 years. And, that is no exaggeration.

When you go to that site just put in search about UFO in storm and it will bring it up not a bad picture and small caption doesn’t look real compared to the storm.I just think China is playing around with new tecnology and it scares the people thinking they are UFOs.Like the US they can’t tell the truth about what they’re doing you know military secrets might fall into the wrong hands.lol
