UFO Reports from Cuba

Wednesday August 20, 2008
Recently, I read an interesting article about UFOs in Cuba, which is a country we rarely hear from when it comes to extraterrestrial related material. The article tells us about the history of UFOs in the Communist county, which began on or about 1950. After relating a number of some of the best known sightings, we are told about an alien abduction that occurred there.

This account sounds almost exactly like some of the ones from the United States and Great Britain. On Sunday, 10-15-1995, near the city of Torriente, Matanzas, an elderly farmer, Adolfo Zarate, saw an unknown object about the size of a car, landing at this farm. One thing I thought of that you may or not think kind of funny, is that instead of thinking of the object as being "like a car," in modern terms, maybe it was a Cadillac or Lincoln, both of which were about a block long at that time.

Anyway, to continue the story, the UFO sat on the ground for a time, and then a humanoid being emerged. The being, wearing some type of helmet, or face covering, took some samples of the vegetation. After some kind of explosion, the craft took off. The authorities came and investigated, and did find depressions on the ground, indicating that something had been there. Also, the Ministry of the Interior conducted an investigation, but reached no conclusion. Of course, this occurred during the hey days of Ufology during the United States, and probably these reports filtered to Cuba, which in turn began the ball rolling there. So, there are UFOs in Cuba.

Making Money on UFOs

Monday August 18, 2008
Just a few days ago, I was reading 'Phoenix lights' Spark Variety of Local UFO-related Businesses, which relates the different products and services that have arisen over the years to make a buck riding the shirt tails of the notoriety of the Phoenix Lights case. The author of the article relates to us that Phoenix, Arizona, is only one part of the so-called "golden triangle," the other two being Roswell, New Mexico, and Nevada's Area 51.

In addition to souvenir shops with T-shirts, caps, maps, photographs, and more, there are also the conferences, where anything and everything is offered for sale. Most of these folks are good people, with a few charlatans here and there. They are making a buck on the interesting subject of UFOs. What this is leading to is this: A week or so ago, I saw a comment on a UFO forum that stated, "Any UFO web site that sells T-shirts has sold out." I thought, "Now, wait just a minute."

Everywhere you look are advertisements. Television, magazines, newspapers, and yes, even web sites are full of advertising. People are trying to make money. This is America!

Do you think that the serious nature of the mystery of UFOs should preclude the sites from making money? Does the over abundance of commercialism on a UFO site bother you? If so, speak your mind.
